We can say that Game 1 was throwaway as too much hype on JV and even though Panda shook him on the first HR, it was the third base double and the second hr by Panda that tipped this one. Thought we could have gotten the second game as Fister held serve, but our paltry two hits and funky base running denied him once again a 2012 post season W. The Giants supposed best pitcher starting for them Saturday. Maybe we beat their best like they beat our best!!
Wow, nothing going right for this team. Hitting into double plays. This won't hurt as much as 2006 did because 2006 prepared me for this.
This would be my batting order AJax, TriCrn, Berry, Fielder, Young then the rest. If he did this all year TriCrn woulda batted ~30 more times. Undisciplined at bats killing the Tigs. 2-0 SF bot 4th.
We are done folks.....no runs in the last two games and only 3 in three games....so far this looks worst than 2006. Two double plays, pop outs and strike outs with the bases loaded. In addition to the nine men left on base tonight...just look at these figures for the series: Over 20 strikeouts 17 LOB hit into 4 DP, including the 2 tonight 1-11 with runners in scoring position This series turned in the first game when Verlander was exposed...thats when the so called leader gave up two dingers in the first three innings and the rest of the players seem to be in as much shock as the announcers and fans and could not catch a break on the field and or in the batting box. Like Oldschool HQ commented on FB, during the press conference "Leyland looked like Carlisle did after the Pistons got swept by the Nets in 2003....I got them this far, maybe it's time to turn this one over to a Larry Brown type or someone who can get us over the hump.."
Wojo in the DetNews said the Tigers lineup has little depth. I'm not buying that. We're not the deepest lineup, that's for sure, but there are some decent guys that just aren't hitting. Oh well. Tigers should be pretty loose tonight against Cain. I think Detroit wins the next two to make it a little more interesting and loses the series back SF. I just don't feel like this team is quite done yet. I think the bats break out tonight. Go Tigers! Give the fans who spent a lot of hard-earned cash to see a WS game something to cheer about tonight.
We're going all Yankee on these guys. No team had been shut out twice in a roll since '63 or sumthin'. Even if Scherzer pitches well, 2.00 era, we still need 3 runs. I don't see that happening. I don't think anyone scouted the Giants correctly.
Somebody here at the PF predicted the giants in 5 games. This series was never a matter of skill..... It was all about the tide.......how the luck was flowing.
Mostly I meant in the media and Tigers org. Did you back it up with facts and stats ? good call on your part but mostly you go against the grain anyway
The bats have been dead. Miguel looked scared at the plate last night. Fielder has been pretty much useless. Leyland gets the dunce cap for: 1) batting Berry #2 last night 2) not having Berry bunt TWICE...both times with 1 out and at least 2 guys on base But, it aint over til it's over. Tigers will become the first team to win the World Series down 0-3
According to Leyland, he has enough power in the lineup to score 3 runs every game and all he has to do is rely on the pitching to hold the opponent to 2 runs or less.....well after two 2-0 losses, what's his next move?
Berry batting #2 again tonight Hope all the guys are clued-in to where the ball is and ignore any sign Lamont gives them
I know. It boggles the mind. Berry has become the new Raburn. Although Berry had a good at-bat in the first. Problem is, "good at-bats" don't mean much down 3-0.
I wouldn't compare Berry to Raburn. Berry is a decent major league level baseball player. I think this World Series stage is just too big for him right now. We would be better off with Polanco batting 2nd.
