Is this the same team we saw the first week of the season?? They have not scored over 4 runs since April 15th and have only scored over five runs only three times this season. I think the announcer said that they have only had 10 hits in a game only three times since the opening series vs the Red Sox. I thought this was a power lineup? Fielder and Cabrera got two hits tonight and were even on with no outs in the bottom of the 8th only to be stranded by Young, Peralta and Avilla. Result...Mariners 6, Tigers 4. Fielder leads the team hits and batting average, but has only homered twice and both of those were in the second game of the season where he hit 2 in the 10-0 blow out of the Red Sox. Still too early to be concerned, but I just needed vent somewhere...since Mrs Dre and my sons don't care...
Tigers are 4th in the American League for team ERA........which is a good start. Team batting average is .246....which is well below last year. 10th in the AL... The Orioles have 7 more HRs than we do. We're just not driving the ball this year. Imagine how bad those stats would be without the Boston series.........
A third of their 74 runs (26) were scored in the Boston series. ...when do we play them next? .....and oh by the way guess who has slipped to third place
Just wait until we get Fister back and we start hitting. Not too worried yet. Hitters will hit. Victor Martinez may even be a part of the conversation in the stretch run. If we stay near .500 for a while, we're OK.
I think only a first place finish with this roster would be OK..........but......... Our Tigers haven't put together back-to-back first place finishes since 1934-1935........yikes........
Duane Below came in and relieved Fister when he got hurt and pitched about 4-5 scoreless innings. He pitched 2 scoreless and gave up no hits tonight. His era is a perfect 0.00. Tonights starter Adam Wilk gave up 6 runs and 8 hits in 2 innings and has started three games losing all three and has an ERA of 8.18 . maybe time to send him back down to Toledo...and hand the ball to Below until Fister comes back. Hitting is another story. Once again 8 runners left on base including Avila grounding out with the bases loaded in the first inning. oh by the way...Yankees this weekend with Verlander pitching Friday night.....we will need at least three runs just so he can get his W
Seattle still has our number. Same as last year the bats are eratic. Don't these guys need 2 mo. to warm up?
Wilk was shipped to Toledo before Leyland even came and took the ball from him. Brayan Villarreal is moving up to the big club.
It is doubtful that the Sox or Indians are going to get out to a big lead in our division. If we ever hit our stride, we'll pull ahead. It is a very long season.
Swept by the Marlins as the Tigers lose 5-4. Marlins put up 3 runs in the first inning on a3 run dinger by Justin Smoak. They add another run in the 4th before the Tigers claw back to tie the game in 6th inning. Then in the top of the 7th...that darn Bosch misplays a fly ball to right that goes over his head and of course the eventual winning run scores. The Tigers had a chance to tie and win the game in it in the bottom of the ninth getting two men on with just one out, but first ball hitting Alex Avila hits into his second double play of the day and ended the Tigers hope of avoiding the sweep.. This is about 10 straight games failing to score at least 5 runs.
True, but with the potential here, you would have thought that getting off to a big lead like the Rangers have would give you some security as you never know when the Sox will hit their stride.
Brandon Inge released today. The Tigers just got a whole lot better. Addition by subtraction. Thanks for your service, Brandon. Good luck in future endeavors.
He really just can't hit. Did we get anything by releasing him? Honest question. Roster spot, settlement with him, etc?
We definitely got a roster spot. We bring up a guy from Toledo who is hitting .388 with 13 homers and 35 RBI in 20 games. The other thing you remove is 20,000 people booing him every time he comes to the plate or makes an error. Time to move on.
In his first game, Eldred has already doubled Inge's production for the season. This Yankees lineup is scary.
