Spectulation: Tigers will eventually trade Andy Dirks, , Nick Castellanos , Bryan Holladay, and 2 minor league pitchers - Crosby and one more to Marlins for Giancarlo Stanton and Catcher Rob Brantly!!! Mark my word!!!

Its better than a reliever getting credit for a win AFTER he gives up a go ahead homer just because his team wins in bottom of that inning.

Miscellaneous stat time.....during the four game win streak, the Tiger pitchers recorded 18 K's Friday, 10 on Saturday, 11 on Sunday and 10 tonight. That's 49 in four games, yet they still trail the ML leader Red Sox in strikeouts 248-242. Actually they average 10.1 strikeouts per game, so they are consistent even in those 10 losses.
They are second in hits behind the Rockies, and tied for 1st in batting average and on base percentage....the long ball as come into play since they got home as they are still only 24th in the majors in homers. I expect that stat to increase by the end of May when the team is clicking on all cylinders

Yeah, pitching is about 13th in all MLB @3.71 ERA. Mostly due to Al Al and Dotel with obscene ERAs.
    BA right around .280

    In April:

In 14 W's, they averaged 7.1 runs per game and gave up 2.5

In 10 L's, they averaged 2.0 runs per game and gave up 6.2

So, it was both pitching and hitting that contributed to the outcomes.

    Defense:

We have the #1 team in the AL in fielding percentage at .993. The 6 errors committed are the fewest.
In terms of range, we are 2nd to last in the AL.

When you net those out and consider how many K's our pitchers get, I'll define our defense as average/ adequate.

When you consider that we have some of the game's best hitters jammed out there at key positions, it's fantastic.

We may have three of the greatest players of the 21st century when its all said and done! Just like the Bad Boys, Yzerman Wings, Tram and Lou Tigers, Barry Sanders and the season of The Bird - we just need to sit back and be joyful!!!

10 more K's tonight for Verlander and crew. Every tiger batter got a hit, 13 of them (including three by Vmart) and three dingers from Miggy, Cecil Jr and Avila Jr . Looks like we are ready to break out from the pack and restore order.

Tough set of arms the Twinkies had to face tonight.

    Verlander- 1.83 ERA
    Smyly- 1.50
    Al Al- 1.50
    Benoit- 2.19

And we didn't have to unleash Papa Grande and his 0.000000 ERA!

Worley has been a mess this year (he gave up 9 runs in 1 inning against the Mets I believe), but still nice to light him up.

I cant see how this team can have more than a 2 game losing streak all year with this staff as it is NOW.

Agreed. We have 4 different starting pitchers that could take out another average team's ace > 50% of the time.

Porcello is a distant 5th and it seems like Smyly is currently better. However, I really like his middle/late inning role.

It would be nice to have a lefty in the starting rotation and use Pocello and as the long middle inning reliever.

The K's continue as Sanchez fans five twins in two innings.....unfortunately the Twinks punch out two singles and two doubles in between those strikeouts to take a 3-0 lead after two innings.

The drawback of the strikeouts is pitch count. Sanchez has thrown 92 pitches in 4 innings. It's only the 5th inning and he is just about done.
