Just looked at the game logs. Miggy has reached base safely in 31 straight games (62 times) and 60 out of his last 61 (125 times). Machine.

That too (for more than a year I might add). He also got hit on the wrist.
And now we should see why Pena is a career backup.

10 games over 6 good innings from Scherzer, with 10K's, and even 9 better innings by Smyly as he retired 9 in a row to close it out and get the save (for 3 innings of work)

14 hits including 4 by Infante, 3 by AJax...welcome back!!, and 3 by Miggy who had the winning HR early in the game.

Scherzer is now 10-0 and odds on favorite to start the Al Star game, depending on what happens in his next three starts and how the rotations line up approaching the game. Yu Darvish would be in the running too.

9 more games at home and a chance to move more than 17 games over .500.

What an improvement YOY from Peralta. If he was juicing (which he probably was), I would think he stopped over the last couples years as the investigation accelerated.

    Scherzer
    - 1st Tigers pitcher to ever be 10-0
    - 1st MLB player since 1997 to have the record as a starter
    - 1st MLB players since 2001 to have at least 6 K's in his first 14 starts.

Does this mean he elevates to the # 1 tiger pitcher or does he need a Cy Young award at the end of the year to earn it???

    Let the debate begin:fencing:

I wish they figure out a way to cash in more of their runners. 14 hits and a walk gives them 15 base runners in 8 innings. That means they stranded more than a runner per inning on average.

I concur. With all the hits they have amassed this season, you know they have to be among the leaders in runners left on base....they are # 1 in in the MLB in both batting average and on base percentage, second in the # of hits, but 6th runs scored. They are also next to last in stolen bases. I know the LOB stat is somewhere..but I will let TaS provide the details...:bow1:

Don't forget about Fister (6-4). His stats are right up there with JV (8-4) and Max (10-0). Strangely enough, all 3 pitchers have given up exactly 33 earned runs. Here are some other key stats:

    PITCHER/GS/QS/IP/ERA/WHIP/K's/pitches per game
    Scherzer...14 / 10 / 96.1 / 3.08 / 0.91 / 116 / 105.1
    Verlander 14 / 10 / 87.0 / 3.41 / 1.30 / 101 / 107.3
    Fister........14 / 11/ 92.2 / 3.21 / 1.12 / 76 / 105.1

Verlander had one REALLY BAD game. He had a couple other solid games in which he got no run support. He could easily be around 10-1 or 11-1 right now. He is still the stud that you want on the mound in a crucial game.

I hope Scherzer does well in his next 3-4 starts to earn the All-Star nod. He has certainly deserved it.

Actually, Sanchez' numbers are really good, too. Dang, we have a darn good starting rotation. World Series anyone?

Hummm, Fister is lacking in K's, winning in HB's and the goose egg owned by Max is completely dominant !

Actually, Fister is 16th in the AL in strikeouts. He just happens to be on the same team as the 2nd (Scherzer), 5th and 6th (Verlander, Sanchez) best strikeout pitchers.

The Tigers have 659 strikeouts. Next best (Boston), is 40 away at 619.

Wasn't Porcello in the bully at the start of the season ? Or was that an out loud dream ?
Put any struggling starter in the bully, that includes Justin.

Anybody who thinks Verlander is throwing like he did the last three years is kidding himself! He has lost something.....hopefully he'll turn it up August n September.

Verlander is now a $20million a year pitcher. His stats should be going UP NOT DOWN....WHAT he does against The Royals and Astros compared to teh Rangers and Orioles is very important come playoff time.

Verlander appears to be performing well below his capabilities. Given that he averages about 240 innings and he is making $20 million this year, he is making $83,333 per inning. After two bad innings tonight, I feel he owes Mr. Illitch $166,667.

6th because you're looking at gross and we've played fewer games. Runs per game puts us 3rd, barely behind BOS at 5.11 and St. Louis at 5.04. We're at 5.02. Virtual tie.

You'd also want to look at runs per inning because in a lot of wins at home, we don't bother batting. We have the most home wins in the AL.

On the topic of runs scored per inning, I thought y'all would find this interesting:
