Unless he passes through waivers unclaimed and the Tigers sign him to a minor league contract with Toledo...:dancingparty:

Lets see, these Tigers need a closer in the worst way , yet they'll trade a guy with an 150 ERA. Hmmm, something smells fishy here.

Nice to see the Tigers showing off their stuff on national TV against the first place team BoSox. First on Thursday on ESPN with the walkoff and today on Fox.

VMart big today so far through 5 innings with 5 RBI. Stat of the season....Tigers 20 -3 when Vmart gets an RBI, 21-28 when he doesn't. Lets get it together Victor..

Do we all agree that Avila should be the backup catcher behind Byran Pena?

The Tigers average scoring 7.5 runs per game when Scherzer is pitching. That leads the major leagues.

That means we need to bring him in to pitch to a max of one batter in any games when the offense is struggling....

And with JL probably starting him in the all star game, Miggy and Peralta hit a couple of 2 run dingers and along with the other AL stars and the American League gets a 7-6 win and the Tigers home field advantage in the series......just some long range speculation.

Huge night for VMart. With his career success, his age (only 34), him being a switch hitter, and his health back to normal, I don't see how a manager could do anything but ride him the whole season in the hopes that he'll be his old self by September. If he pulls it together, we'll just have murders row in between all of the Infantes and Peraltas who are also hitting .300.

Meaningless stat, but he is hitting .270 in night games this year.

The all-star game actually is an important game for us. Leyland doesn't have Valverde to screw it up either.

Avila's rehab is off to a blistering start. In the 2 games he's played so far he is 0-for-8 with a walk and 2 Ks. I hope they keep him down there until he can figure out his issues. I don't think Tigers can afford to have a .160-.170 hitter taking up a spot. Pena should be able to hold down the fort in the meantime.
