I don't know, he's still throwing in upper 90's.
So what's up with the JV's? First J Valverde and now J Verlander? Five blown saves by papa and 8 losses by the former mvpcya....how are we still on first place?
Leyland isn't letting the starters go very deep this year. Hardly any complete games (only 1 that I can remember). JV just again mentioned that he has been studying the technique to try to find the issue. His breakthrough seemed to be something mechanically to increase accuracy. No mention of fatigue or a change in mechanics to get velocity back.
Money spending fatigue

Jeremy Bonderman making a serious bid in Toledo to rejoin Tigers | The Detroit News Maybe some of that bullpen depth that we need. He's gotta be better than Coke.
Fister with 2-1 gem over Phillie. now 9-5, Max goes next
Bondo is not good, hasn't been in a long time. Couldn't make it with Seattle.
he had 4 good starts followed by 2 bad ones this year after 2 years off. maybe fatigue. spot relief could be the ticket.
We'll see. Bondo is still only 28.
he had Tommy John surgery and is coming back before the full 19 mo. recovery. Sounds like he still has good stuff.
Here are his 4 good starts: 8.0 innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, 0 runs 6.0 innings, 6 hits, 3 walks, 1 run 6.0 innings, 3 hits, 1 walks, 1 run 5.1 innings, 5 hits, 3 walks, 2 runs His bad outings were 4 runs, 6 runs, and 7 runs. Not many guys in our bullpen are capable of pitching 8 scoreless innings I don't think. So, he's got some stuff. With the TJ surgery, we could pitch him 2 innings and then give him a break before sending him back out again.
We have a good one brewing. The no-no was spoiled early, so I don't think I'm jinxing anything by mentioning the 1 hitter, 0 walker that Scherzer has going in this blowout. Miggy homers in his first at-bat back. 3RBIs already. VMart 3-3 and just passed Austin Jackson in batting average on his way back up to where he belongs. Bout time! Valverde could close out this game.
6 left on base? Color me unimpressed.
Valverde could close out this game. settle down now !
I saw someone named Ben Verlander play last night for the Connecticut Tigers. He looked much better at the plate than Patrick Leyland. I know the box office manager for the CT Tigers, and he said when Ben reported to the team, he said: "My name is Ben Verlander. You've probably heard of my brother."
Interesting happenings at the ball yard today. Cabrera gets ejected for arguing a called strike, followed by Patches. Bases loaded at the time. Fielder has five LOBs in first two at-bats.
And then domination ensues! Cleveland is sort of on a roll though. They've won 4 straight with 2 shut outs of Texas in a row.
Yeah, thanks Texas. Thanks for nothing. Nice to see the Tigs respond to a little adversity.
