Runner on 2nd with nobody out. How do you make 2 outs on a grounder? Some dumb plays.
Great 9th inning with our defensive lineup in there. We're beating the teams that are chasing us, that's for sure.
Just got back from this game. Great pitching, a couple of timely hits, and great defense by the tigers. Luckily, the boneheaded base running blunders by Hunter and Pena didn't come back to bite them. Big win against a hot team. Iglesias is so fun to watch on D...makes everything look easy.
I really wish I could move the Tigers to US Cellular's location.
Despite the Tigers leading the league in hitting and top two in runs scored, their starting pitching maybe still better than their highly explosive offense which has been inconsistent . Only two hits today and another one run loss two a team that is struggling to get runs too. They got to rebound in the night cap!
This offense can be so maddening sometimes
I know....if the maddening offense lived up to what their potential is, they would be sitting on 85 wins now running away with it...
Verlander has 9 losses now...Kinda sad cause he wasn't too bad today.
Time to bring DY back, huh? LOL
Yep...I mean he would have been a possible liability in, but willing to bet his offense would have been above that of Dirks.... you see what happen on his last at bat in the 8th?? Got ahead of the pitcher with 3-0 count then then swung at the next three fouling off the first one and then wiffing on the next two.
Really? You're critiquing individual at-bats? You cannot win every baseball game.
I was using a scenario of comparing him to Delmon Young and just saying that has been his mojo for most of the season in which he is 12th on the team in OPS and slugging..and left a lot of runners stranded on base.
Dre, what about Torii's at-bat in the 1st and Fielder's in the 3rd in the 2nd game today? Swinging at stuff way out of the strike zone. But I agree, Dirks struggled, and he only had 1 good season to show so far in his entire career.
Dirks was 4-4 in the leadoff spot in the game before. He's struggling this year, but so is our highest paid player.
well we were the best team in the AL for one day .595 8-14-13
Oops they did it again..held to five hits in the double beat down and ended both games grounding into DP...with slo footed Martinez involved in both plays. I won't go into detail that much about Dirks, but he did strike out in the ninth again with a man on... But after he got four hits yesterday and Fielder knocked in and scored the winning running yesterday, they were mia for the whole day. Meanwhile some dude by the name Eric Hosner is player of the day for the Royals hitting in home runs in winning both games...
Well almost all of them...the Dodgers are 48-8 in their last 56.....
Tigers vs Dodgers would be a great matchup.
We gotta make it to the post season first........
And our odds are only 97.1% right now.
