Cabrera hits another bomb in the first inning. He doesn't miss pitches. Contrast this with Fielder who seems to have a ton of trouble getting on top of pitches that are a little bit high in the strike zone. Prince needs to watch film to make sure he's not dropping his hands. He appears to be popping up a lot of pitches lately.

After dueling the NL all star starter, Scherzer wins 3-0...........
Only AL pitcher with a WHIP below 1.00.
Only AL pitcher with a BAA at 1.90 or lower.
Looks like a CY YOUNG is in order.
Hopefully, Verlander can make a comeback............

Best four man staff I ever saw was The Atlanta Braves four of Glavine, Maddox, Smoltz and Avery.
The Best foursome I ever saw was Flair, Anderson, Blanchard and Windham.

Tigers have scored the most runs in the AL and given up the least.

The 2001 Seattle Mariners were the last team to finish a season like that and they were 116-46 (last in the ALCS 1-4 to the Yanks). SEA had the best record in AL history and tied the best record in MLB history.

SEA scored 5.72 and gave up 3.87 (league average 4.86)

DET scores 5.05 and gives up 3.77 (league average 4.36)

    SEA adjusted to 2013 runs:

    Offense:
    SEA 5.13
    DET 5.05

    Defense:
    SEA 3.47
    DET 3.77

    Spread:
    SEA: +1.66
    DET: +1.34

SEA's starting pitching was not as dominant as ours, but the rest of their staff was and their defense was better.

On offense, our lineup is more potent, but they did have some great hitters with Ichiro as the best (won AL MVP and got the batting title that year in his rookie MLB season).

There is some luck/ randomness involved in baseball postseason. The best teams often lose and hot teams at the end often parlay that into a WS victory.

Overall though, it helps to be good. We are extremely good and probably only have a 1 in 5 shot at winning it all... but still better than other teams' odds.

This Tigers lineup would settle all hitting problems:

    CF-JACKSON
    SS- IGLESIAS
    3B- CABRERA
    DH- MARTINEZ
    1B- FIELDER
    RF- HUNTER
    LF- DIRKS/TUIASSOPO
    C- PENA
    2B- INFANTE

but Leyland manages EGOs not ball players....

The A's are good because even with a .250 team average its WHEN they get their hits that matters and they can score from second on a single.
If Fielder was hitting .300, the Boys would be 30 games over /500!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are also good because they have allowed the 3rd fewest runs in the AL (behind DET and KC).

IF A's get us in second round, I am VERY frightened. Boston, Texas ,and Tampa Bay dont scare me..thats why Im roooting for Orioles to get final wild card berth.
