The MLB network indicated that the Royals have beaten the Tigers in all 5 games that Verlander has pitched against them this season with JV saddled with 3 of those losses. We will need a victory today just to salvage a 8-8 season split with the Royals.
Even if they can hold off the Indians, their recent play does not seem on par with the other division leaders BoSox and A's.. so far only 2-5 in September

Would be a shame to let the Indians back into this thing, considering how much the Tigers have dominated them. Royals have good pitching. The A's don't concern me, but Boston can mash it.

Oakland should be of some concern to the Tigers seeing that the A's record is a half game better than Detroit and they nearly swept Tigers at Comerica just two weeks ago.

Luckily the Mets come through in the top of the 9th beat the Indians to help the Tigers maintain the 5.5 game lead and drop the magic # down 15.

The Tigers need to go into Chicago and take care of business this week.

I see your point, but you can't be concerned about the A's until the playoffs. One step at a time.

Thank you, Mets. You finally did something right.

Memo to the Tigers hitters: The idea is to outscore the opponent.

Well you know I am... JV is not JV, Miggy playing through injuries and getting tossed, Scherzer fails for the third time in a row to get # 20.

We need a team like the Indians or Mets to finished up the season with.

One thing for certain, Miggy will probably still the MVP, but the Triple crown, Scherzers certain CYA and the Tigers winning the division is starting to look questionable. I mean the awards are meaningless if we lose the division and the wild card spot. Still to early to think about it but if we are 2-9 in September by the end of this week then this team is in trouble.

Our odds of making the playoffs have dropped to 98.3%.

Tigers have only scored a run a piece in Max's last two starts.....and you thought Verlander couldn't get run support??

With Porcello pitching Tuesday they need 6 plus runs to get off the snide.

Sorry to say this, but if TENNIS can basically run its show without any officials (why DOES that idiot still sit between the net?) with an almost flawless replay system, why do we need umps in baseball? If a ball hits the line or pole, why cant an electric light or buzzer go off? Why cant they use that on TV ball strike box and put it behind the plate and on the scoreboard? Put a light under all the bases for safe /out callls? Ban running into the catcher for plays at the plate? Of ALL current major sports, baseball is the ONE that can truly go without umps! Keep a MLB official in the press box! Who needs them! Learn to play with honor. We did it on the streets of Detroit all my youth! If it hits Ms Johnsons car , its foul! If it goes over Old Man Clacker's bush, its a homer! Cmon, man! LOL......

And when you really think about it, winning doesn't even matter that much. It's just simulated warfare to scratch a primal itch.

The look on Avila's face was priceless as Porcello got the complete game! If Rick had JV's swag and Max's attitude, he'd be a number three starter in any playoff game. ...also, I just have the feeling Garcia will back in Detown by 2016.......just a feeling.........

Was that Porcello's first complete game? Will be interesting bringing him out of the pen in the playoffs. Might not be easy to switch up his routine and stint length.

This is Porcello's 3rd complete game as he had 2 last season. This is the Tigers 4th complete game this season as Scherzer, Sanchez and Fister each has logged one.

The Tigers staff had 12 last year led by Verlander's 6, who coincidentally has none this season.

Magic # down to 13. Good see Porcello, Fielder and Avila come through tonight.

Indians lost to KC this afternoon, so magic # down to 12. A Tigers win tonight puts Cleveland back 6.5 games and the Tigers are in dire need of back to back wins to get some confidence back.

Interesting race shaping up for the second Wild Card position. KC has a shot.
