Me, too. He used to be my favorite Tiger.
Nancy Travis is STILL EXXXXXXXtremely Gorgeous(Last man standing vice)
i'd trade Castelannos,, Veras, Coke, Alverez and a minor leaguer for Stanton and Polanco!
Hernan Perez just showed in the 8th inning why he better stay on the roster in 2014
Need to find that offense before playoffs begin. Pitching can only carry you so far.
Starting Alvarez basically told us that JL wasn't concerned about home field advantage. Oakland winning tonight pretty much puts us on the road next Friday. Have to wonder if Porcello would have shut these guys down in the early innings.
Most definitely. Changing the order of the lineup might help.
setting up our lineup and giving guys a break should trump a long shot chance at hfa. five game series with scherzer pitching twice. I'll take that even on the road. something to be said for nice weather too.
Red Sox are playing the best ball right now it seems. MLB execs definitely want a Red Sox/Dodgers matchup because the blockbuster trade would be a big storyline for TV's talking heads. Going to be a tight series with Oakland, like last season. A bounce here or a bounce there ...
Last year that $60M payroll almost beat our $180M[?] payroll.
BUT it was Porcello who gave a cheap 3 run double because Peralta circle the ball like a wagon train in the 1800's!!
The Tigers offense is on fire and ready for the post season having scored 4 runs in the last 3 games..... The Tiger announcers have praised our starting pitching (except Alvarez) with the record setting strikeouts and great pitching this week, but that won't mean nothing in the playoffs if we can't more than 2 runs a game. We are having problems with the bottom feeders, WTH is going to happen when they face Oakland, Boston trying to get back to the series?
I think the expectations are low for the Tigers in some circles. That's a good thing. Many more folks talking about Boston, the low payrolls of Oakland and Tampa Bay and the long winning streak for the Indians. I'm OK with the Tigers flying below the radar. I am worried about the offense and a less-than-100-percent Miggy. I doubt Miggy has the health to go deep very much and he will have trouble running more than one base at a time. I worry about his fielding, too. That being said, I can't wait for it to all get started. Rooting for an Indians' loss in the Wild Card game if they get there. MLB execs hoping for an Indians/Red Sox matchup, I'm sure.
My only concern about the playoffs is Verlander. I feel the others will shine, and Justin shoulda been placed in the bullpen.
I haven't been happy with his pitching this season, yet he's been allowed to hold his regular starting slot. Sure, he is a liability as soon as he enters the game, as he generally sucks right away when he pitches, so relief work is scary.... but still...I'd like him to get the message...TO WAKE UP.............
Even with a "shaky" season, Verlander is still on of the best starting pitchers in baseball. Taking him out of the rotation would be silly.
Look like JV is holding is own today. ..it is the punchless offense on the verge of being no hit that is what we and the Tiger brass should be worried about.
