The Tigers won game 5 in Oakland last year with their ace Verlander.

This year they have to outscore them on Tuesday and then rely on this years' ace in Scherzer to win it Oakland on Thursday. Got to believe!!!!

The question is do they throw Sonny at the Tigers on 4 games rest or send out Bartolo again?

I hated this game cuz I knew Sanchez was gonna be trouble having thrown 65 pitches after 3 innings. I belive Balfour woke up a sleeping dog and I dont see the A's beating Fister and Scherzer back to back. Tigers in 5 was my pick...so far .I'm sticking with it.

They wouldn't have to beat them back to back... either or.

If Fister can win, game 5 should be a serious pitcher's duel. I could easily see the A's bringing Sonny back out. We could start with Scherzer and bring in Verlander for relief if it was a tie game in late innings incase it takes 13+ innings to score a run.

Would the pressure be to much for the rookie to handle for Game 5? I might like our chances against him more so than the vet Bartolo..after all it will be second time they would see him and they had all evening to look at the tapes of all of the pitchers..........but first we just need to score 5-6 runs on Tuesday in the early innings to make Fister's job easier.

Fister might very well pitch a gem too. He's highly capable as he proved last year (pitched 3 games and gave up a total of 3 runs). And he's well rested.

The counterpoint is that he faced the A's once this year (late August) and it was in Detroit... we lost 14-4 and he gave up 7 ER in 5.0 innings. No home runs off of him, but lots of singles and doubles.

    Here's hoping!

I know this is a Piston forum and we re-start the official Piston cheering tomorrow, but are there any other real Tigers fans in this forum other than me, TaS, Laimbeer, oldschool, Mikhail, CJ., Nemo, TFD, ggazoo, BDL, Woody and Roscoe?

If Tuesday is indeed the last game of the Tigers season, then I want to thank you eleven for putting up with reading my:typing: passionate Tiger BS:bs: all season...The Tigers were the first pro sports team I started following back in 62...so we go way back 50 years of cheering in 67, 68, 72, 84, 87, 06 and 11, 12 and now 2013.

As you can see by tonight's Dodgers clincher, you need the long ball to take care of business and the Tigers not having a dinger since 9/24, proves why they are only 2-6 since then. Can somebody please hit a couple with a man or two base tomorrow, instead of grounding into a DP, or striking out.

And on a positive note, only 10 more wins to the ring...:nailbiting:

Leyland is not going anywhere. We don't fire the 2013 world series winner.

If the Tigers lose before the World Series or lose the World Series, I'm sure the talk of getting rid of Leyland will be rampant. That's all well and good and certainly a relevant issue, but who is the replacement?

One thing I'm thankful for this postseason: No Valverde drama.

Was JL contract renewed? I thought he was in the last year of it......Maybe we can steal Kirk Gibson from the Diamondbacks?? His last two teams went 81-81, but is 2011 team finished first in their division with a recored of 94-68, but lost in the LDS. He would have more talent here than in AZ....he could watch his son play as MSU... If we can't get him there's always Micheal Curry or Flip Sanders...

Gibby who I was thinking of, too. I think Ilitch and Dombrowski believe Leyland has earned the right to set the terms of his own departure. He is signed through this season, I believe.

    I think game #5 is a 50-50 shot.
