All I know is that I really do hate how cynical the world has become regarding sports, players and tenure. Everyone thinks every player has to be this WAR type of player-the most ridiculous thing IVE EVER HEARD OF-and not guys who are good to the fans , clubhouse and community. Players like Chet Lemon, Roy White, Eddie Brinkman, Auerlio Rodreieguez, Ron Cey, etc....could get no props today because so many people think everyone has to hit .300 with a .400 OPS and a .900 whatever and its just nuts. Baseball is all about good times, hanging out with your kids or pals, bad food and good beer!! Its about Ernie Harwell on a Friday night and a Joe falls column on Monday Morning. It wasnt long ago that this city was the laughing stock of baseball and now it represents the last three AL MVP's!!! Baseball is 162 games worth of tension where if you lose 70 TIMES and make an out 7 TIMES out of TEN-you've had a GREAT YEAR! Here's to the old pasttime-always a friend of mine!!!

After the Miggy deal was announced, I read a bunch of the comments at the bottom of the story saying that Mike Trout should get a ton of money now. Like Old Skool, I'm tired of the WAR statistic. That is what Trout is most associated with. Let's see him lead a team in the hunt of a pennant race. Bang!

He just became the athlete in the history of america with the biggest contract... from the age of 33 to 41. It's not about war, it's about using any logical measurement of performance for that timeframe and looking at how bad it has historically worked out.

Again, we already had him locked up for the next two years. What was the urgency here?

Martinez with a leadoff homer in the 2nd inning. The Royals put up a 3-spot in the 4th inning, including a bases-loaded walk to Omar Infante. Tigers trail 3-1 after 4 innings. Opening home game is always a special day in Detroit.
