What did Fielder do as negative ? Maybe he wasn't a leader but I only remember his standing up to his dolt father. Only controversial as I saw it.
Maybe he failed in the P/Os but that's not subversive.

He made some comments that made him seem apathetic... like it was just a job to him and not much more. When they lost the world series, his Quote was something like "it doesn't hurt. It's over. I have a wife and kids and I'll be fine."

Nothing crazy, but leader usually feels pain after a near miss (or at least pretends to) for their first potential championship. That combined with his poor performance was a red flag.

I could see VMart more than Hunter. Hunter is too easy-going in my mind. VMart has some intensity.

TaS, that's still not cancerous. Empty, yes.

I said "cancer." TaS didn't. Anyone who doesn't have a commitment to winning after being paid millions is cancerous in my opinion. Great move by the Tigers to send him away.

He was only signed because we were in "win now mode" in 2012 and vmart was injured. With victor back, we had 3 DH type guys and nowhere to hide them on defense. Had to move him.

Nice to see the Tigers bring out the lumber for Sanchez today. More great "relief" pitching.

I didn't see or hear any parts of the game....but I did check the scoreboard on my phone and saw that Sanchez finally got some run report and the Tigers were comfortably ahead 11-1 in the seventh and went about my Saturday errands.

I was shocked to see a final score of 12-9!! I knew that Coke must have some how been involved in the extra runs carnage.

114 pitches by Sanchez.....I know he is still in recovery mode, but I may have left him in there a couple more batters to see if he could have gotten out there with just the one run surrendered.

Looks like we maybe one reliever and one power hitter short of a world series appearance, but will need two of each to get the ring.

    Team ERA is 4.07.

    Starters - 3.66

    Rest of staff - 4.98

    Dombrowski's most pressing issue.

One run win and Nathan gets through the ninth unscathed. Two things to cheer about.

Tigers put two on with no outs and score 1 run''

KC gets guys on at ease and clear the bases without a HR

JV and Nathan are really being tagged this season...

The only pitchers on our team with more than 7 innings pitched on the season and with an ERA worse than Verlander:

    Robbie Ray
    Phil Coke
    Joe Nathan

Why is he so bad all of sudden? His ERA is nearly 6 in his last 7 outings.

In looking at his splits, here are the averages against him:
After an 0-1 count, batters hit .184 against him
After a 1-0 count, batters hit .369 against him (with an OPS > 1.000)

After an 0-2 count, batters hit .116 against him
After a 2-0 count, batters hit .404 against him

In comparison, after a 1-0 count, batters hit only .269 against Scherzer vs .189 after 0-1 (so, about the same as JV when ahead on the count, but much worse when starting off behind)
After a 2-0 count, .294 vs .132 after 0-2. Here Scherzer is worse than JV when jumping ahead of the hitters, but way better when behind.

Not sure what to take away from that, but you'd think that Max would be better in both situations. My thought is that JV's "out" pitches are still working, but he's getting pounded when the hitters know that he needs to catch up on the count and throw strikes.

KC is on their way to an 8th straight win. Tigers just need a split to hold on to first place, but the way they are playing they may surrender first place.
