Yes, flies, grounders, line drives, pop ups, etc. What he can't catch is a break.
V-Mart has 18 jacks this season through 70 games. It seems a cinch he will surpass his high of 25. I would love to see him get 30. Looking forward to watching tonight's game. I only get to see ESPN and FOX games or games vs. the Red Sox and Yankees since I get the regional sports networks for those teams. So, this is a treat for me. I hope I feel that way in 3 hours or so. Hoping Verlander can turn things around.
...and possibly do some bullpen work in a blow out game (15 run lead for Tigers).
I like your lineups, but would also like to get Lee's rotations lineups too for comparative analysis.
Dang. Tigers are hitting some rockets off Indians starter.
Actually, I think Kelly has pitched (2) in more games than he has caught (1).
Cliff Floyd, Fox newbie analyst, needs some work.
Doug Fister 6-2 - 2.77 era - 36 k - 6 walks J. Verlander 6-7 - 4.73 era - 77 k - 42 walks Fister not back from injury til May 9th... Fister's contract...7,200,000 dollars Verlander's contract...202,000,000 dollars We traded the wrong guy...
Verlander with a strong game... thank God! Nathan with a blown save, although he actually seemed to be doing well. Some chippy hits got to him. Then we survived a bonus inning of Coke. Miggy with the game winning RBI.
VERLANDER WENT SEXLESS this week and it really paid off. 8 K's and only 1 walk thru 100 pitches. Second straight night that ausmus goes with the pitch count when the starter is obviously in control NATHAN did pretty good BUT WHY is he pitching third straight day?? Again Ausmus blunders...I would have brought in Coke after Nathan gave up hit to Gomes. Thats what happens when u try to play to a players stats and I'm very thankful to have the best hitter and switch hitterin the game!! GO MIGGS GO VIC!!!!!
We now have a +1 run differential on the entire season so far (compared to +136 for Oakland) and we're in a mediocre division.
A sweep by the Tigers and Mariners puts the Tigers back to where they were before KC came to town. The long ball and starting pitching has been key the past 3-4 games. The bull pen has still been scary the past two games, but in the end it thwarted any comeback attempts by the Indians despite Ausmus trying to give away it away.
...and the beat goes on....3 game sweep by the Tigers and Mariners puts the Royals right back where they were last Sunday night...2.5 games behind the first place Tigers. Scherzer was great and if not for an reversed call by the NY ump crew, he would have at least departed the game w/o giving up a run. Hope that bruised leg is not serious enough for him to miss a game. The starting Tigers pitching staff of Smiley, Sanchez, Porcello, Verlander and Scherzer have given up only 5 earned runs in the last 5 games (2 by Smiley in the close loss to KC). The Tigers banged out 8 homers in the past five games including 3 by JMart. The had seven in the series sweep of the Indians with 2 each by the Martinez guys. The Indians scored 4 runs in each game, but weren't enough to overcome the surging Tigers who started their month long slide in Cleveland on May 19th getting swepth by them and hope that this reciprocal sweep puts the team back on the path of glory.
I was impressed by the three rookies who pitched the last three innings. Blaine Hardy has been nothing short of sensational. He deserves to replace AlAl as the seventh inning guy.
Each of them struck out their first batter and the last two each got a K in their major league debuts to the first batter they each faced. The last one just got roughed up, but after relinquishing three runs, he struck out the last batter to end any hope of the never say die Indians.
Being at .600 makes me feel safe.
It's feel good situation when three of the teams in your division have 3-4 games losing streaks at the same time you have a 4 game win streak. Just wish the overall separation was greater. Lets hope they take advantage of the struggling Rangers this week.
Al Al has been pretty lousy of late. I watched Nathan cough up the lead against the Indians the other day, and I felt he looked tentative out there. Too much nibbling. Go after them. Trust your stuff. Maybe that's the problem.
