The bullpen does it again.....As everyone in Tiger town has said all over the country, Phil Coke should not pitch unless the Tigers are down by 5 or up by five. Dude could not find the plate to save his life, and Al/AL and Krol were no better as they let this one get away after the Tigers went ahead 4-3 in the top of the 8th.

It didn't help that Tigers only managed to get 2 runs in the top of the 8th after getting the first two runners on and then had the bases loaded with 3 balls and no strikes on Bell.....who of course struck out after pinch hitting for Porcello. In hindsight, with only 77 pitches he could have stayed in there and pitched the 8th and 9th since Joba and Nathan were supposedly over worked.

I know the odds are to pinch hit the pitcher, but with the state of the Tiger bullpen, I would have possibly gambled that a one run lead with him on the mound may have been better than a possible two run lead with Coke......

There is no championship at Comerica this year if you have to rely on Coke and Nathan getting major PT. Al/Al and Krol can't be counted on either.....

They pulled porcello after 77 pitches? That's dumb.

Coke gets 1 out, allows 2 walks and 2 hits. Brutal.

Even though JL is gone, his sidekick Jeff Jones is still there calling the questionable moves for the rookie manager... 77 pitches, and just two triples by Peralta was his only real nemesis for the night. It's unfortunate Rick came up to bat with the bases loaded and when it was time to break the game open. ...so in the tradition of the NL philosophy he was pulled for a pinch hitter who then struck out...... I said then...that play will come back to haunt them and it did. Please replace Coke with a Pepsi or something....we could have a double digit lead in the standings if he didn't have pictures of Jeff in compromising positions...:cheeky-smiley-012:

Its time for management to show how bad they want a World Series and it may cost Tigers up to 5 Minor Leaguers, JD martinez and Drew Smyly to get Soria and / or Benoit the longer we wait and show how desperate we are!...Is it worth it or shou;d the guys we have just earn their paychecks?

what pisses me off is that pitchers are still grown men!! Let him get his butt in there and HACK!! How many times have I seen a wild pitch or a walk bcuz the opposing pitcher gets spooked trying to be too careful!

Other than Joba, the bullpen has regressed. It will be interesting to see trade-deadline moves. I would not, however, give up J.D. Martinez.

I like him too, although he has been in a back to earth slump since the break. But our only assets are he and Raja Davis. Don't think anyone would want Kelly or Romine..either way if there is somebody in Toledo or future draft pick something needs be done this week.

I didn't know the bases were loaded. Probably a good call pulling him then.

No way would I trade jd martinez for a reliever. Shouldn't be necessary. Sucks that hanaran is likely out for the year now.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but once again Anibel ran out of gas by the sixth inning and was pulled in the 7th. This time the Tiger bats spotted him 7 runs to work with so we got the win pilling on another 4 runs including a late 3 run dinger by Miggy off the left field foul pole.

Trying to decide if I should go to Angels stadium to see JV pitch on Saturday night or Porcello on Sunday night. I got one Tiger shirt I can wear to represent the D!

J.D.'s return to Earth was as expected as Suarez's was. I just think J.D. deserves another season with the Bengals.

That's the chance that you take when the goal is to win a World Series this year.
