Remember Gang, we are setting up for the playoffs NOT the Central division title-that much is given. The 4 man rotation will be Scherzer Games 1, 5 Verlander 2, 6 , Sanchez 3 , Porcello 4 and all hands on deck for any Game 7. The bullpen will go LEFTY : Smyly (long and situational) and Hardy (situational) Coke will only pitch when we are getting blown away...RIGHTY will be Soria 7th inning, Chamberlain 8th and Nathan to close and now even that is subject to change.Alberquerque will only pitch to one hitter at a time at the most. The pitching staff seems set-playoff wise.

I like the National League lineup we displayed last night with Davis 2nd but we cant have JD Martinez cooling off on the bench and Castellanos needs quality at bats, even if just pinch hitting (we he should have done on at least four occasions in Arizona).

I wonder if Smoltzie gets into the HOF. I think he squeaks in.

Regarding the Soria trade, DD will never be accused of not being aggressive.

Lots of non-HOFers with more wins (213). A lot of great Atlanta teams, but only one championship. He was 1-4 pitching in the World Series.

Well, remember he was converted to a relief pitcher for a few years, which cut down on wins. He had 55 saves one season. I wonder if, given the backlash against steroid users, some room is created for him. I imagine he looks better to voters than say, Manny, Sosa, McGwire and Bonds.

Oh yea, I forgot that he was a reliever. He is certainly a lot more likeable than all those knuckleheads that you named.

You still don't trust giving Porcello a game 2 or 3 start huh?? Would if he is top three in wins and somehow is top five in era in the league at season end .....and the Tiger leader in both cats?

The Angel homer comments started surfacing in the 5th when the Angels went up 3-1.....Tigers got 3 back in the 6th to take a 4-3 the lead. They should have gotten more....

Max with 92 pitches thru 6 innings. Depending on what the Tigs do in the 7th, he should get to pitch the 7th.

Nope, got the good guy announcers. Nathan's pitches have a lot of movement. Tough to tell why he's been struggling.

Friday night is Hawaii shirt night, with Smyly, Saturday is Fireworks night with Verlander.....but the verdict is in...it will be Family Day Sunday with Porcello pitching......unless I see a better deal on Stubhub tomorrow morning.....

The Angel batters went fishing in the ninth.

Some series observations....both MVP candidates Miggy and Trout, struggled with two strikouts each, but each got a timely hit.

Raja Davis needs to be a little more patient at the plate.

VMart has been struggling since his return from the pre all star injury.

Toss up as to what was the defensive play of the game, the catch by Ajax in the 7th or the or the diving catch by the Angel rightfielder Calhoun to rob Kinsler of a hit..

After having a masterful first half with the best home record....the Angels are 2-4 at home since the break. Lets see if the Tigers with the one of top road record can trump the angels best home record.

One last point....Miggy 30+ home runs and 100+ RBI the last seven years.

With 63 games left this season he has 80 RBI, so no worry there about reaching 100 again, but with only 15 dingers in the first 99 games, thoughts of him getting 15 more in the next 63? He is still getting the hits when needed, but the power is missing.

Family Day means lots of annoying kids sitting near you. Watch out for flying cotton candy.

I don't think he makes it to 30, but I'm OK with that. I would trade Miggy not making it to 30 for the Tigers playing better at Comerica.

I went to bed when the Tigers were down 3-1 (pretty late out on the East Coast) and was delighted this morning to see they won. Angels starting pitcher looked like he was gaining strength as the game went on.
