The 30/100 for seven years is a remarkable stat within itself. Three straight batting titles and two straight MVP's is great too. No American leaguer has won the MVP three straight years, but I would trade that for a world series championship THIS season. I am sure Miggy would too.

I honestly think Miggy would rather have another World Series ring than any individual accomplishment. I know I would.

If this team was based in NYC it would have a couple more rings.
As for JV pitching 2,6 maybe he is best seasoned going into the P/Os. If any of the pitchers will be peaking it better be JV.

Good game by Smyly up to the 5 innings...then the back to back doubles in the sixth spelled doom despite the 11 K's he delivered..but alas when he pitches you got to get him some runs because he is going to give up something.

2 runs should have been enough to over come for the potent Tiger bats, but they failed to get anything going after banging out 15 hits and 6 runs last night.

    Final 2-1 Angels

Regarding Smyly, a 3.77 ERA is pretty good for a No. 5 starter. I was hoping for some competition for the spot, but nothing has materialized. Smyly seems to be getting better. I hope he figures out how to go deeper in games.

Smyly is a work in progress...Kinda like Scherzer a few years back.
He'll make somebody happy as a starter. I hope we keep him.

Now you know why I didn't want to go to a JV pitched game. The opposing pitchers always pitched their best. JV will give up an early inning dinger, settle down then fall apart in the sixth or seventh. If we don't already have 4-5 runs by then...ow well it's over. (now he is 9-9). I went to an Angel game in 2011 pitched by JV and we lost 1-0....he pitched well (and won the CYA that year,) but we lost to Dan Haren who pitched the shut out.

Shut out again tonight as Shoemaker and company shut out the tiger bats.

Hopefully tomorrow afternoon when me and Mrs. Dre are there, we get the W with Porcello on the mound trying to even up the series.

Is it a bad sign that Coke had to come in and finish the job for Soria in his first appearance?

Have fun. I have a feeling the Tiger bats will come out with a vengeance today to split the series 2-2. Be sure to wear lots of Tigers' gear!

Two runs and 13 hits in the past three games. Time for this team to put its foot on the accelerator.

We had our gear on, but the Tiger bats fizzles again. Bad choice of throwing to second to chase the runner back to the bag in the 5th inning. Then even worst...Ajax held on to the ball to long and Aybar races around third base and runs home to score the tying run.

I am thinking Rick could have won this one without that incident. Brad went with the percentages again and pulled Rick after 99 pitches and Joba gives up the winning run on a homer. Most of the putouts by Rick were on the ground.

I am going to say that the Angels are the better team...and we can't argue about right now. We scored 2 runs in the three losses after scoring 6 in the win.

We held their bigs >Trout, Pujos and Josh in check, didn't even have to face Weaver and still weren't able to get at least a split.
Disappointed to the say least....especially after sitting in the 90 degree sun..for 3 hours. We let guys like Navarro,'
Freese and Aybar beat us....mean while...we get the the dinger from Miggy Friday night and nothing afterwards. I think he struck out at least 5 times in the series.....but then again Trout struck about 6 or 7 times...but his team won 3 games.........

I hate sitting in the sun at baseball games when it's over 80. And I've done it a lot at wrigley.

Angels are a good team, and anything can happen in a series.
    When is dirks back?

I once sat in the bleachers at Comerica in 97 degrees and made the mistake of putting sunblock on my forehead, which then ran into my eyes when I started to sweat.

I had a seat right next to the field on a scorching July Sunday a few years ago. It wasn't even enjoyable. I only go to night games now.

    Yes, Tiger Stadium had shade!

I saw opening day in 1984 from the back row of the lower deck behind first base. Couldn't see anything above 20'.
Daryl Evans home run disappeared and then re-appeared in the right field bleachers.

I was there with you...his ability to quickly get around to meet the ball...and then drive it was still sweet.
