After yesterday....and 19 innings, I can give this one a pass for everybody on the team except Verlander!!! NO EXCUSE ...
    three errors for the defense...
    two stolen bases off Miller

I know a sinking ship when I see one...

    Is an 8-1 lead safe?

Don't worry, if they don't comeback tonight they still have a chance to get nine of their next 10

Yep as long as you have players like the impatient Davis who swings before the pitcher delivers the ball....

.....and then a rookie just called up serves back to back jacks....

If the Tigers could find some players go long they may win a few.....especially if they could clear the bases with men on......but that just doesn't happen that much anymore

Maybe need to shut him down for 15 days, but with Soria and Sanchez already on the DL, I suspect the most he does is skip the Saturday start and be ready sometime next week after Kate gives that shoulder a complete rub down.

Last time we were in second place we fell a half game behind the Royals on June 18th....it was short lived as the Tigers won 12 of their next 14 to quickly take control of the division. All of the starters were on their A game, the batters were hitting ........Can only hope tonights loss is wake up call and they can replicate the what they did from June 19 to July 3rd, when they went 17-6 .

The offense scored plenty of runs (6). It's not the problem.

I am talking bout those three 2-1 losses and the two times they were shut over the last two weeks. They only scored 6 runs in 4 games vs the Yanks and only 7 runs in three games vs Angels two weeks ago. Went 2-5 in those two series. They looked good at Comerica last weekend sweeping the Rockies with 20 runs and great pitching. Maybe a return home is needed

Just heard Verlander's MRI came back negative...no tears, no structural damage. Could be back on the mound Sunday

The Tigers make the same mistake every year. When they had the big division lead they should have shut Miggy and Verlander down for 2 weeks. Now we are in second place and every game counts and they need them just to win the division. It is obvious both of them are not 100%.

I really don't see this team going far. The bull pen is terrible and will be the down fall of this team once again.

They have three pitchers that are injured and I am not impressed with anyone the Tigers are bringing up from the minors. Robbie Ray is already looking shaky today...although an outfield mis-communication blunder by Carrera and Davis led to the go ahead run. Lets hope our bats can wake up and save this game for us.

That blunder was all Carrera. Not sure what he was doing there.

I know pitching is critical, but agree with Winless that maybe he should go on the DL just to assure that he is ready for the post season...if we are able to make it that far.

Now they're saying 'shoulder inflammation" and that he'll miss at least one start
