I know its a bit off topic, but did anyone see Alex Rios of the Jays knock the ball over the wall for a home run?

Buddy was about 10' from the wall trying to run down a fly ball. The ball hits him in the glove, bounces out and he tries to grab at it with his bare hand before it touches the ground.

Only problem is, he knocked the ball right out of the freaking park for a home run 2 run home run! :frusty:

What's worse was the score was tied in the 7th inning at the time and there were 2 outs.

Guillen was over at first base. Getting Perez was a waste. I think Infante is persona non grata for some reason with Leyland.

That was pretty funny. I saw it on the Sportscenter top 10. I like Halladay's expression after it happened. If anybody didn't see it, here's a link to it: YouTube - Alex Rios helps Alex Cora complete home run

Thanks for that link. That is the worst place that could have happened, too. Right-field corner at Fenway Park.

That was really funny. But talk about strange...remember Randy Johnson's fastball disintegrating that pigeon in midair...

Neifi is the worst. So far in Detroit, he has crossed home plate 1 time in 76 innings. 5 singles and no other hits. Batting .176 or something like that. What a joke.

Jamm, not as cool as Jose Canseco letting the ball bounce off his head for a homer.

Yeah, I remember you posting misgivings about picking up Perez when that happened. I can certainly see why now. And it's not that I think Infante seems awesome, but my impression is that he had been decently reliable stepping in after Polanco's injury.

btw, does anybody know how long he's supposed to be out. i think they really miss his patience and consistency at the plate (i seem to remember he has one of the fewest strikeouts per at bat of any major leaguer).

Yes, he is the quintessential No. 2 hitter. He's about the only patient Tigers hitter consistently.

Tonight it's Saunders, 4-2, 4.78 E.R.A for the Angels against Verlander, 15-7, 3.42 E.R.A. Verlander needs a good game, he had a terrible last start. And we gained ground on the Twins and Sox because they both lost yesterday (the Royals are playing the White sox tough!) Hopefully we can gain another game on them both today...

If Nate could have fielded that nubber back to him it would have changed last nights game.

Can someone explain to me why no one swung at Mussina's first pitch?
Big fat first pitch strikes. Did they not know what they were looking for?

Who-hoo! Go Tigers! I'm not really a fan of theirs in particular, but I'm a huge fan of anyone who's playing the Yankees. Still hard to imagine that the Tigers can actually win this series, but I guess crazier things have happened.

Gotta like the fact that A-Rod went 0-4 with 3 strikeouts.

Watched this game all the way through. The Tigers played well, and I can see now why the pitching was so well-rated. I had seen games but not a bunch in a row and the ones I saw, the pitching was not that great.

They held a good team of hitters top to bottom, to a real-sub-par game.

Todd Jones and the whole bullpen looked great.

And Joe Morgan kept talking about how just one basehit in the last game could have put the Tigers up 2-0 right now.

    They are FOR REAL!!!

Thames had a nice game with three hits and Walker ended up with the win. The Tigers finally showed up. The rest of the games are going to be fun to watch...
