There were a few complaints about Kuester, but I don't remember any pf.com outrage. I thought he was a good hire and nothing has changed my mind yet.
But TaShawn that didn't happen. We didn't get a good draft pick and break out of no man's land. We are still in no man's land. We didn't get anything for AI's Capp Spaace money. Nothing we could do anything with, as is evidenced by the results of this season. Bad example, although I'll agree that the trade of CB for AI was a disaster for everyone involved and the unequivocal commitment to Stuckey above all, like he was the next Steve Nash was ridiculous.
An aside: Tell me about it. I picked Amare as my #1 draft pick in Novice Fantasy League. I have always been very high on Amare. The only thing Amare does is score points, and nearly all of them are facilitated by Steve Nash' running of the offense. Fool's gold indeed. Meanwhile, Ben Wallace packs my stat sheet every night. Nothing in the points category, but he's my 3rd most important contributor in multiple cats. There will never be another Ben Wallace.
It is still early in the season and we are just getting back to full strength. Not sure that the "results" for this season have all been tabulated. There may be a few hanging chads that still need to be counted.
I agree, plus I don't know how you can say the Pistons got nothing for their cap space when they got Charlie Villanueva. If half the league died and the teams chose not to replace the players he'd be one of the better players.
I don't think you guys are being fair to Charlie. If he does end up having an all-pro career, he can pose as his own statue at the Palace gates.
I know it does not look good so far but sometimes it can take years to see the results of a big trade like that. Especially when the guys you ended up getting have spent more time injured than on the court. We are not even at the half way point yet of the season. Still time to turn it around and make things respectable. If it's still like this 50-60 games in then we can talk about throwing in the towel. If the Pistons do not turn it around then our vets will be so hard to trade and will weigh things down so much that any pick ( unless he is future HOF ) will not be worth it. I hope the guys can re-gain their composure and who knows - some of them may even be worth keeping.
After reading that and seriously considering all of the points and counter points... they for sure tanked. And it worked.
That was a good year to tank. Even if you don't get #1 pick, you can still draft Melo, Wade, Bosh, Darko...
or even the sixth pick that year, some local tall white guy named Chris Kaman who could still be your center piece now..
Controlled tank, please. As long as the young players, Stuckey and the rookies are playing often and well, add a superstar in the draft.
