    From Mlive...

Ilitch didn't rule out buying the Pistons or the entire Palace sports empire, but indicated they are more focused on their existing business.

"We've got two great sports teams, we've had an incredible assortment of business. This is a lot of work, a lot of opportunities which we have,'' Ilitch said. "We're very focused on our Detroit Red Wings winning hockey games and our Detroit Tigers winning baseball games, selling Little Caesars Pizzas. I would say we're focused on our existing businesses and we'll go from there. It's tough to say at this point (whether there is interest in the Pistons).''

Might be that Ilitch doesn't want to appear too eager in attempt to keep the price down

Agreed... when his son says about buying the Pistons "It's tough to say at this point"... this is anything but a denial... sounds more like there's interests but we can't spill the beans yet.

with wilson in the fold he'll really understand what the pistons are worth.... and as he's shown with the wings if a little money will make the difference between winning and losing he's willing to spend it.

maybe we can convince him to buy the lions though... ok i can dream can't i?

Here's my prediction... Mr I buys the Pistons AND they move downtown where the cost is distributed amongst the two teams... first they both play at the Palace for a couple of years.

That's pretty clever Merc. I'll buy it as good of a conspiracy theory as any.

I just hope Wilson's cronyism doesn't infect the Illitch empire. The Illitches run their businesses like a family, and making an outside hire like this is truly exceptional.

A cost effective means would be to keep the concrete base of JLA and do a complete renovation (remember the old Fox?)

I never understood why people get so upset about this. Regardless of whether a guy is looking or not. Common knowledge says you don't quit your old job until you get a new one. People do this every day. I missed the part where this became a sign of 'disloyalty' and immediately call your character into question.

Thirtysome years of loyal service plus he spent a year after the owner passed away setting the stage for a smooth transition. That's different.

Yikes...this does lead you and me toward different images of downtown. I wish it was from the past. But if you want an artistic historic glance, then go here:

    Recognize that building?

I'm guessing Merc has some opinions about the people in this potential ownership group that he is refraining from expressing. Too bad, we could have had a romping good time getting a heated argument going in here...:stirthepot:
