The guy says that when he analyzed old game film of Pete Marovich, the 2 steps were happening back then too while the rule book only officially allows 1 step.

The problem isn't really 2 steps now vs. 1 in the rool book, it's 3 steps now vs. 1 in the rule book. Or in some cases, 3 steps + a crab dribble + some off arm shielding action.

Watch Rip when he's on the move and takes a pass and comes to stop. His feet hit the ground about half a dozen times. Probably just as well they don't call the real rule on him.

Rip is the undisputed king of the stationary travel.

Yeah...that foot shuffling no call is amazing. A couple of weeks ago Rip went up off his feet into the air for a jumpshot...came back down and dribbled to the hoop. No call. Players drag their pivot foot, lift the pivot foot off the ground etc.

I'm printing this out for my 13 year old son who plays in a rec league. I don't see the kids getting this much leeway.

Seriously, in that video (which I watched, as I do all the Pistons games, in super-slo-mo frame by frame), Wade picks up his dribble with his left foot in the air (ball cradled on his left hip), so his right foot is his pivot foot. He then slides that right foot about 2 feet, takes a little hop on it, then takes a step with his left, and then a step with his right.

They mentioned in the True Hoop piece that the NBA is the only place that calls traveling that way. Continuations too, I bet.

TaS, yeah he is. I've seen him get called for it twice but other than that, the refs never call it.

When traveling, I like to put in some Tom Petty, maybe Full Moon Fever or Wildflowers.

I traveled all the way to my fridge for some bean dip not too long ago. I picked up my pivot foot and took at least 5 or 6 steps. Guess what - no call.

Because they are moronic businessmen, and LBJ is one late night Charles Barkley cruise or party with Chris Andersen, or Jason Maxiell baby eating dunk from being out of the league.

If Stern goes thru with this it will be even dumber than when he tried to change the basketball a couple years ago.

This is absolutely asinine. First they take away the defense so a few stars can score their 40 every night. Now they are allowing traveling so the stars can score. This my friend is not basketball. Stern must go before the league loses all the purists that love the sport. I alreay know of some who left it when they took away the Piston defense. This is insanity. Makes me want to puke. Stern must go. What is his next rule? Any super star does not have to dribble the basketball?

I don't want to puke. I'm not even mildly surprised. Par for the course with this crappy league. Between the players, refs, and Stern, I pretty much washed my hands of this dumb A _ _ league years ago (I hang out here pretty much for other reasons).
