That's certainly a legit point Max... we're not getting the easy transition pts...
The opponents T.O.s is the exact same as it was in the reg season and slightly better than last season under LB.
So for whatever reason these T.O. are not translating into points.

Getting back to Flip, without getting into over-emotional character assassination, how do you rank the job he has done managing the game.

Forget strategy, playbook, etc. Do we really feel that his time management and adjustments meet the grade as a top 5~8 coach? Do you feel he could replicate the (W-L) results of LB if given the same squad and opponents?

I'm most disturbed by the Hack-A-Shaq and out of timeout execution. One smells of desperation and the other shows a passivity that great coaches do not have.

    Max,

You also have to look at the lack of impact from Ben and Rasheed Wallace's end there too. Throughout this entire playoff run almost, especially in the last two series. They're not blocking shots, nor getting steals (Ben) at their usual rates.

Thier, especially Ben's, numbers are way down. So we're not getting out on the break. Of course with Ben that could also be directly related to fatigue, from playing against the likes of Shaq and Ilgauskas, which is understandable.

With Ben and Rasheed not creating their usual havoc on the defense end our fast-break numbers are down to the bare minimum, as opposed to what they were in the regular season.

Hate to rehatch old feelings, however, does anyone get the feeling that Flip is on an island with just CB before the season has even started?

As someone mentioned before, nobody is coming to Flip`s defense regarding the Ben Wallace situation.

That can be a cause for some concern.

Are the players tuning Flip out, ALREADY????

The Pistons will be fine. Thinking the players are tuning out Flip is ridiculous. The coaching staff is much stronger now. I believe the players will be held more accountable this year. The players aren't going to join in on some mud slinging contest in the media. What's the point?

Who said something about a mudslinging contest? And as far as the coaching staff goes there is only one head coach, and the buck stops with him.

What makes you think the players will be held accounatable THIS YEAR?

You dont think that it is peculiar that no Piston player defended their coach, while at the same time discussed with Ben his plans to bolt. Moreover, Sheed, at this very moment is voicing his disaproval with Flip`s plans.

I guess we can just wait and see what transpires here, and the players tuning Flip out may not be as ridiculous as you think. We will find out real soon.......

What is the point in Rip or Tay saying bad things about Ben? It serves no purpose.

CB defended Flip and didn`t say anything bad about Ben, and so could Rip, Tay or anyone else if they so chose to.

Apparentley, they chose not to say anything, not saying that`s a jab at Flip, but not saying it`s not either.

What strikes me as important about Flip is his approach to the game. It's different than the approach of the greats, who understood that you win on D and ``don't lose'' on O. Flip's got a different opinion, and that's fine -- he believes in something else. Thing is, after a long string of playoff failures, he's not willing to rethink things. That says something.

As for the players, they'll decide through their behavior whether Flip stays. The interesting question is what happens with Chauncey. Joe's not the type to pull a bait-and-switch. And, as seen earlier in this thread, many of us think the ring may have made Chauncey a bit crazy. Is he ever gonna come back to Earth?

Joe's gotta weigh all that and make a decision before the All-Star break.
