The Pistons probably won't be back in the ECF picture. Regardless of what Joe does this offseason, there is a good chance we might not even make the playoffs next year.

I feel it will take at least a season or two to get back into serious contention. The cupboard is bare when your starting bigs are Kwame Brown and Jason Maxiell backed up by Trent Plaisted and Amir Johnson.

    Oh I forgot about Plaisted!

    We're goin all the way!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I'm watching a rusty Bynum in these playoffs and having a hard time understanding how anyone would compare him to Amir.

I wouldn't compare the way he holds his chopsticks while he eats shrimp fried rice to Amir....just because. :)

    On a sidenote....GO WINGS!

How did we do this year without Sheed and without Dyess? I don't remember the breakout.

Whatever it was, you'd think that we could do better that than next year because we will have players in their absence.

If the Pistons would guarantee that Trent Plaisted would be on the team next year then I would guarantee that I'd get the league pass next year right now.

I agree with what you are saying. I just think with all this cap space we should at least get one player that is established and puts up 20 and 10 a game. I would settle for 15 and 9. We need a rebounding force up front in a bad way.

How about Milsap and Lee with similar deals at 8 to 9 mil a year.

Good idea. You should start a David Lee thread.

Why do you think we drafted Trent Plaisted?

I know how everyone is on the Milsap bandwagon, but playing a few games in the place of Boozer in his contract year just doesn't do anything for me. I am not saying he has the potential to be a great PF for years to come, however, this one is a hard sell.

He could be like a couple other role players who played good due to injuries to starters, then after they got paid because of their performance in a contract year, the following year(s) they played like busters.

I like Gortat and he can easily fit this mold, however, he is a 7 footer who couldn't be any worse than KB, but the buyer still have to beware in any case of these sh.. to sugar players IMHO.

A frontcourt of Lopez and Millsap would be a good start but "best in the nba"? Not even close.

What about Ron Murray? He filled in for Ray Allen and his career was downhill from there.

I guess you're right. Ron Murray is the more appropriate example since Scott Mitchell was a QB who was forced into playing defense most of the time.
