I've been trying to convince this poster that there is a special team in East Lansing. The story today is the same as it was against OSU....MSU defense dominates. The pundits were selling OSU after the loss to MSU, but didn't notice how good the MSU defense really is. BTW...they're ranked #1 in the Nation. A certain person had the Spartans at 5-1 after this game. They are there, as predicted... This is a good team...One that deserves loyal fans. I still feel that they'll run the table and play for a BCS game...just as I predicted. Michigan didn't play bad...they were just dominated. MSU busted them up...
That missed op to run for the first down when it was 21-14 Sparty and 4th and inches was the Wolverines downfall..Who called that play? The dual Wolverine QB experiment did not work ...especially when Robinson was on the sidelines. Good defense by the Spartans all game...should move up to 15 and Wolverines drop to 17...
MSU beat a very tough Michigan squad despite their attempts to self destruct with some of the dumbest penalties I've ever seen. Great defense by MSU against a really good offense. Brady Hoke has done a good job cleaning up the mess left by Rich Rodriguez. I must admit Cousins played well. Not great. Wow! When was the last time MSU beat OSU AND U of M in a season? I'm not going to stress over Wisconsin until tomorrow. My teeth hurt from clenching them.
Yeah. I was wrong. But you thought U of m would win this game. The glass is always half empty for me. Just my personality.
I cheer for the Wolverines...but I'm a fan of MSU. They played a great game today... Which QB will make it in the NFL...as a QB? BTW....you picked Michigan by more than 7 points.........
I didn't pick Michigan...I didn't feel they would win. I did want them to win...I almost leaned in their favor... but after close analysis...MSU all the way.
I looked and couldn't find it. But I could have sworn you had a post saying that you changed your mind and picked Michigan because the winds were blowing their way or something like that? Because i thought I remembered being bummed because I know you are right a lot. That last sentence hurt. Bad. Did I dream it?
I didn't pick Michigan State...I didn't feel they would win. I did want them to win...I almost leaned in their favor... but after close analysis...MSU all the way.
The incomplete backwards pass was a good break for msu. Great defense though. They made dr look pretty frustrated. Tough game that was really dominated by wind and field positioning.
You picked MSU to win this one at the beginning of the season...and I picked Michigan. I calculated this as MSU's only loss of the year. I also looked for this Michigan prediction by me...that you remember. I wanted to know myself if I really said those things. As I get older, I don't remember everything I say. All I could find was my initial prediction at the beginning of the season............. I did post this...when BillLaimbeer wanted to know who I thought would win between UM and MSU. He seemed to think I was waffling...maybe I was... Ahhhh heck. You want CLEAR... I originally picked the Wolverines to win this game and be the only blemish on the MSU schedule this season. I figured that if Sparty lost with a great team to Michigan, then they would run the table. Instead, Sparty loses to an average ND team throwing off the karma for the annual battle for the Paul Bunyan trophy. With the game up in East Lansing, the karma actually swings over to the Wolverines side, but State should win a close battle.
Wonder how the MSU coaches will address this. I realize the players were amped up for this rivalry game, but the one player should have been tossed after throwing a punch (and when he wasn't tossed Dantonio should have done the job) and then another player taunted Robinson after the interception and run back for a TD. Oh well, UM players probably would have done the same.
I hope not...not anymore anyways. Holding out the football while scoring is a questionable, and maybe useless penalty...but the punching, and hammering the QB to the ground after the play is done...this isn't hockey after all...
I agree. Like I said, it happened the other way years ago and the U of M players was made to be a hero, afterward. It bothers me. But nothing will happen. It never does. The taunting was just plain stupid. I don't like the celebration rules but hugging a mascot is one thing. Taunting is another. One of the MSU defensive coaches, Narduzzi, seemed like he was proud of it. Football is great because of the vicious hits but while I think we all want to see opposing players get their clocks cleaned I don't believe most of us want to see injuries...especially on dirty hits.
Not calling the taunting play, not throwing the guy out that punched the U-M, player and ignoring the backwards pass are part of the "home field advantage" that Sparty got. The biggest play or worst call was if the Wolverines were attempting to pass on the 4th and inches right outside the red zone late in the 4th qtr. What looked like a possible drive for a tie was botched when they could have fallen forward for a first down..
