Utah January 17th, 7:30PM TV - (Local) TV 20, NBALP The Utah Jazz come to town playing their second game of a four game east coast swing. They suffered a heartbreaking loss in DC Monday afternoon as "Agent Zero" sank a 3 pointer at the buzzer. Despite the early success of the Jazz they are a .500 team on the road. Chris Webber may be in uniform for this one. Let`s hope he is and that he provides a lift. Detroit could certainly use one!!
i will be there @ webber's first game as a piston! gonna bring the camera this time and actually remember the batteries heh.
I see an embarrassing blowout tonight...most new guys dont have 'memorable first games'. Im sure there someone out there that can pull up the first games in a piston uni for these guys: RASHEED MCDYESS DELK ARROYO BILLUPS RIP ...ETC
The Jazz certainly haven't played as well on the road as they have at home. Hopefully they will not come out strong after the disappointing loss to the Wizards. CWebb hasn't played in a NBA basketball game in three weeks or so...I imagine he will be trying to work off some rust in addition to trying to fit in with the second unit.
With both Chauncey and Sheed less than 100% healthy, I can envision the Pistons struggling to defend Stockton and Malone tonight.
I can see us playing the jazz close. Sheed had a great game in our first game against them, and we only lost to them by 2 points with a less developed bench and when the Jazz were "the" team in the league. Or the most hot at time. If CBillups comes back and Webber can provide some scoring for our bench and in the high post we should be set for an excellent game tonight. If not...we got Flip jr. jacking up 3s and Sheed playing lazy again.
Tonights game can only bring us good news (barring some new injuries or Flip Saunders announcing in his post game conference that he received a contract extension). Here is my logic (or lack thereof): Pistons WIN CB not 100% and Webber new to the team. Team not playing well lately. Yet the Stones win irregardless against a quality Jazz team. This is an indicator of really good things to come once Webber becomes acclimated to the team and "Mr. big (fill in the blank as you see fit)" gets healthy. Pistons LOSE Well, what did you expect? Flip is still the coach and it's just gonna be a while before he reads this forum and figures out what to do to win with Webber. Also, we've got excuses (see above injuries, etc.). Bottom line: [sign]Sit back, try to relax and enjoy the game.[/sign]
I heard through the grapevine that Chauncey probably won't play tonight. Take it for what it is worth.
Was bored enough to look em up, but remembered Sheeds debut quite clearly so got into the rest too. And a couple more I thought I'd throw in: DARKO DNP-CD TAY Same debut game as Rip/CB, scored 2 points in 7 minutes. Let's see if C-Webb can buck the trend.
I read it in the news that although CB is participating in practice again, he can't run yet. Chances of him playing are zero.
I got my info from someone who attends practices. They didn't give me an "absolute" no. Just their feeling.
