In the weakest sense possible I can see the rational of playing Stuckey (what happened to all the running?) at the 1 when Rip is out there. He kind of dummies the game down for Hot Rod. Before he learns to run the team, I'd like to see him learn a 2nd move. I liked how they took 10 minutes to review the replay of the fight to dole out the same penalties they would have if they just called it on the spot. Tay is the whipping boy now, but I don't think it is right to blame him for the baskets scored on the back door/oops. JJ should focus on shooting 3's from the corners now. He can knock those down consistently. Aldridge could really be something if he had one other aspect of the game he did well. He can shoot over anyone though. I don't know who I'd take between he and (gasp) Bosh.
Bosh gets u 10-12 rebounds a night and has a lowpost game......Aldridge hasnt met a jumper he didnt like.
If y'all saw it, Joe saw it. One thing about Joe, when he's had enough, LET THE FIRE SALE BEGIN!!!!! Can you say, Hello 2020 conditional 2nd rd draft picks.
Aldridge is a good scorer, but I agree with Ernie, he doesn't do much else. Bosh has more range. Aldridge is sort of a robot down there. But darn effective. The difference is that Bosh gets to the line almost twice as much and he is a shot blocker. I have Aldridge on my fantasy team for 2 years, and for every 20/10 game, he will give you a 14 and 6 game. He only puts up really big numbers when he plays a ton of minutes. We're talking about 16 + 8 vs 24 + 11. You put Bosh in Portland and they would be a contender.
I think I saw that movie at the drive in back in the 70's The sequel was out a couple of years ago called TayShaun of the Dead If Pistons want to make this home stand successful, someone needs to trip Tay in practice so he can miss the next few games and play Daye 20 mins instead of 5.
Maybe Rip was in the rest room with the coach during half time and noticed that he didn't wash his hands before he came out?
Bosh is what, 2nd in the L in rebounds per game? I don't think of him as one of the top rebounders out there though.
Bosh is a shot blocker? #'s are a tough thing to figure. I think Bosh gets a lot more looks playing for TO than LA does. Style of team play may give him a few more boards with that. Aldridge is not the primary option in Portland and is winning also. (I make the comparison based on something you said last year by the by.) The overriding similarity of the 2 to me is that while they are both skilled they lack the top notch athleticism and strength to really dominate.
u must not have watched Bosh play in the Olympics//// His defense was a big key in the kast two games. Even the announcers were shocked because in Toronto thye dont employ a defensive system....The same thing happened to Garnett after a few years in Minnesota. Put Bosh here instead of Darko when he came out of college and he'd be twice the player he is now.
I don't think Aldridge lacks strength, the guy is really well built. He just doesn't play a power game. And Bosh has filled out big since he was drafted. Both of them are quite athletic for their size. Neither is a Kevin Durant, but then there aren't many Kevin Durants. I always end up defending Bosh, and I'm not even a big fan of his really. I mean I like him, I'd love to have him because he is easily one of the top 5 big men in the NBA, but Bargnani is the guy who I really enjoy watching. Although, the best NBA player in my opinion is Ben Wallace, and after that the drop off is huge to these guys. My sense of aesthetics I suppose. Anyway, I end up defending Bosh, because I think people place these unrealistic expectations on him. He's a 24+11 guy, an Olympian, by all accounts a decent teammate and a hard worker. I'm not sure what it is that he isn't doing that others do. Ok, he's not Duncan in his prime, or Shaq in his prime, or Olajuwon. I doubt he ever becomes a HOFer like those guys will be. I certainly don't think he is worse than Alonzo Mourning or Patrick Ewing. Compared to his contemporaries (guys under 30) I think he is very, very good. I like Aldridge too, he's just really one dimensional.
I'm pretty sure that Dampier was in the top 5 in rebounds going into his contract year (hasnt been anywhere close to that since), along with other names such as Jerome James, Ben Wallace, Carlos Boozer. Gotta watch out for these dudes in contract years, I think the stats are skewed.
