Joe Dumars has salary cap space he wanted | detnews.com | The Detroit News

Aw man, I loved the hair...

So, I'm guessing Lee is trying to find his new whipping boy for next season as we speak...

Good because he never did anything as a Piston. He's good but no body gave him the chance.

Based on the minutes he played, Pistons are better off with the salary cap $$$ anyway. With the inconsistent minute pattern it is difficult to discern whether he could actually contribute.

Contrary to popular opinion, Herrmann was a jerk and had tiny hands.

That will be the Det News article that comes out later today.

If Kwame doesn't decide to opt out, the Pistons will now have the smallest average hand size of any NBA team.

    ...we're screwed!

I don't like this move at all. He was a nice role player who should have had more playing time this season. You are not going to get a better player for 2.0 million.

I guess the question might be, could you resign him for two mil? Or might he expect to get more playing outside the U.S.?

Hey, no fair! A thread on small hand size and no one invited me to join the party?

"I have talked to Kwame and his agent and they both know we would love to have him back next year," Dumars said. "But it's real simple. If he doesn't opt out, then we would love to have his big body back here next year. If he does opt out, then good riddance to his ridiculously small hands. We would be fine either way."

I'm guessing it was playing time.

Seriously for the junk we gave Flip for not playing a back-up SF. Coach Curry did the same thing. He overused Tay. Even using Walter at the 4, when he should have used him at the 3 and J-Max or Amir at the 4. :gun1:

Amir might have left, but he still has J-Max and Aaron Afflalo, so it's all good.

Dumars is trying to push Kwame out while being polite. The code word "big body" means that he will not get any playing time, except for certain situations where we play extra large centers like Shaq. Calling him a big body and ignoring effort, rebounding, and defensive skills, is a pure insult.

He's hoping that Kwame hears that and leaves, knowing that he'll take a pay cut in the process, but won't be buried on a bench.

Why on Earth would Dumars ditch Amir for $1.7M in relief while not wanting $4M in relief from Kwame?

I didn't even noticed that part, what the heck Joe? J-Max at center? Ben Wallace 2.0?

Great insight. I did not interpret it that way. You are indeed spot on.

For the record, read my post again and you will see the tone was not serious, nor was it advocating the position of keeping Kwame on the roster.

If Kwame leaves, Pistons will need another "big body" up front. That will be fun to watch this team being re-made.
