Joe Dumars could have done so much better.
I dunno, even his Darko pick had a good reason---he just didn't pan out right. Maybe it was all on Flip in Joe D's eyes.
Hardin and Walker on board, still time to make it up Joe! Personally, that's what i believed after i heard the presser. Not all but i'd say about 75-80% in Joe's mind.
Walter Sharpe is a real sleeper in this draft!
Rodman had asthma and wasn't considered an absolute stud either, flying under most team's radars. He ended up being the best pound for pound rebounder in NBA history, and a DPOY. I don't know this dude, but I would guess that he is no Serbian Gangster. He might be a domestic gangster. lol
New thread made for Trent Plaisted
walter pics http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll16/abefroemen/walters1.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll16/abefroemen/walters.jpg He had 2 days of workouts for the Pistons and from what I have read in the last 10 min or so is he was a workout stud. Maybe this is the kind of move we needed. We dont have to pay for a first round contract and get good talent who knows. Playing waiting game- al.com From draftexpress -Walter Sharpe may be a surprising name called on draft night, after conducting strong workouts with teams like Cleveland, Denver, New Jersey, Washington and Charlotte, and showing surprisingly well there. Sharpe, a very highly touted member of the 2004 high school class, only played in 12 games this season before being ruled academically ineligible at UAB. He was later diagnosed with Narcolepsy (a sleeping disorder), but has numerous other red flags on his resume, including being kicked out of Mississippi State for breaking team rules, being shot in the stomach, and then later being arrested for disorderly conduct—all separate incidents. Some team may regardless decide to take a chance on Sharpe due to his terrific combination of size, athleticism and skill playing both inside and out. One NBA Assistant General Manager told DraftExpress that he thinks Sharpe is a first round caliber talent who may not get to the middle of the second round due to the increasing buzz around him. He still has workouts to conduct with Utah, Detroit and the LA Lakers.
You outdid yourself Ocellatus
another white 7 footer. sigh.
Maybe the NBA will renig of Seattle trade and we get to keep D. J White?? Other wise this was a wasted day for the Pistons and their fans...
funny, chad ford also put in his analysis that this guy was a real 'sleeper'
Did we actually expect to get some big-time help with the 29th or 32nd pick? At best all we can hope for is a "sleeper". The big trade is yet to come. PATIENCE!!!
Good advice Woody!
I'm just hoping this bloody "sleeper" can stay awake!
Piston Draft summary without naming names = F+ Did nothing to back up anybody, but could have taken all America and Detroit kid Chris Douglas Roberts at 29 and at 6'7, he could have backed up Tay. After all his skills as it relates to slashing and driving are probably better than Jarvis, Max, Amir, AA and Mejia. (Wherever he is) But I guess by taking DJ white and then trading him to Seattle for two picks, Joe did not want to pay any first round draft contracts and now has three scrubs available to fly to Vegas and play with Stuckey, Afflolo and Samb. And that my fellow forumates is the only and last time you will see these 3 draft pics in a Piston uniform. We would have been better off trading for next years picks as we may need them then............ Wonder who was in the War room with Joe and Curry, Matt Millen? Even the Lakers who had one pick #58, probably did better than the Pistons as the guy thetook, Joe Crawford will probably make the team.........
Lets not jump the guns. Joe did a good thing if he didn't like anybody in the first round and couldn't move up. He doesn't have any guaranteed money for the player he doesn't think he wants on the team. Nothing wrong with that. Also, all we know is what we read in the media. Joe has a scouting team and they watch guys play and work out. They have a boatload more information on which to base their decisions.
More of a Varden highlight but some peeks at Sharpe YouTube - UAB Men's Basketball vs. Kentucky Review
Sharpe at SF? True Blue Pistons: Joe D on Sharpe: 'He's good, man, he's good'
Maybe Melo won't seem like such a bad guy now with this guy on board. Not paying a first rounder helps who, the fans of the team? Maybe instead of paying for the league pass next year, I can just burn the money. Dumars goes on and on in his now trademark post ECF flameout about the lack of urgency with the team, but I don't really pick up any sense of urgency from him either.
Separate names with a comma.
