Yep. League rules state that you can't change jersey numbers once the season has started (unless you change teams and you have to chance your number). It's something to do with jersey sales and crap like that.
True story: It was a grimy September morning. I was dodging potholes on I-94 trying to stay awake on the way to work. Then I passed a billboard that only had a head band and a fro. Nothing else. The sun was coming up and for a second it was blocked by the billboard. Just for that split second, it looked like the light was coming out of the fro. Quite a powerful image. I can't say why, but it felt like the beginning of something great. Two years later, I was getting drunk watching the Pistons hoist the trophy. I'm glad he's back. He's my favorite Pistons player, it's awesome to have him retire a Piston. Welcome home Fro.
Well, that fact that most fans are welcoming Ben back with open arms speaks volumes. The same will never be said for Dolphin.
Well, tickets only sell when fans are pleased, so by that metric, this was a good move from a general perspective. I don't expect this team to compete for a title, so if I can indulge myself a little bit and watch one of my favourite players on the way out of the league, so be it. I don't understand why people heap a lot of blame on Wallace. It takes two to tango.
We need a moratorium on that word. I spent a lot of time last season sorting out arguments that involved someone calling someone else a hater.
For some reason I always think of AI now when I hear the word hater. I am very glad that Ben will retire a Piston. This ensures that at least one guy from the 04 team will retire here. This reminds me a lot of when Rick Mahorn came back for a final curtain call in the 06/07 season. He did not play much but provided an emotional lift for both the players and fans.
I know you don't mean ill. It's the person on the other end who might misinterpret though. People start saying hater, then my PM box fills up with complaints and then I get involved, and both parties decide they like me less than they liked calling each other hater, and then they get mad at me, and then I spend hours trying to extricate myself from an argument I never wanted to be part of anyway. Honestly, I only get involved so that Slippy doesn't have to, because he practices Kendo and swings the ban stick with authority, and I have to keep him cool and calm because once he starts, no one can stop him. This is Slippy's master
Glad to see Ben back. He is not the player he used to be but well worth the salary, This will be a fun team to root for. Can't wait until October,
I think, it is not bad at all to sign Ben for veteran minimum. But I don't think Ben could be a significant factor in improving out team defence. Last year with him we were far from best defensive teams in opposing team FG. Actually, we were a bit better next year without him.
