Agreed, but what does it say about Dumars that we have to "pray" he isn't an idiot?
Gahh... What is it coming to that we are all so joyous about getting Troy Murphy in return for Richard Hamilton?! Jeez.... We need a point guard badly. We need a center badly. We need a capable shooting guard badly. We need a good team badly. Any way we can get Chris Paul? Please? I'd settle for Devin Harris...
proposing deals, discussing and accepting trades are very different levels. and unlikely to nets and nuggets - dumars can safely wait til trade deadline. nets and nuggets must make this trade before the trade deadline( or melo leaves for nothing and nets has no chance to compete at the open market) - on the other hand dumars does not have to... I'm sure, Dumars knows his position in this triangle very well
Folks this isn't about who we're getting, it's about who we're getting rid of. While there's no way I'd give up a pick to get rid of Rip, I may take back Petro's 3 year contract. These GM's are so stupid, I think Orl would easily take Petro for a trade exception they have, instead of forcing him onto us.
I wouldn't do it if we have to throw a pick in, but otherwise, fine. We'd get 2 bigs for one of our extraneous shooting guards. Smurph will expire. We'll always have a mediocre big man for $3M per year, so why not Petro?
Excellent point, but we already have one in Maxiel who makes $5M/yr, now we're going to tie up $8M in DNP-CD's, or even worse, actually play them.
Giving up a first round draft pick and picking up crappy players is a no-brainer "no" for us. As painful as this is, and as disruptive to the team's development it is to keep Rip, he will be, effectively, on an expiring contract by the 2012 trade deadline (given his contract is only $3M guaranteed for 2013). He'll be an attractive trade acquisition then - so if our only option in trading him now is to give up a high lotto pick, then just hold onto him.
Apparently it is the 2011 first rounder that NJ wants (SOURCE). That's a steep price to pay to get rid of Rip.
Petro has a long way to go to reach Maxiel's level. I watched him play in Seattle for two years... he is no good!
Here's a picture of Petro guarding Yao Ming.
He's good at getting under a player's skin...
That's what I was thinking. He's got Yao right where he wants him...
Looks to me like Petro is about to get a noogie........
Petro sets them up like this while Charlie G finishes them off with a 2 handed shove to the back! No one will be stand up to that!!
I really dunno from where both nets and nuggets assume that Dumars desperately wants to unload rip: that how this trade proposal looks like- you want to unload him? pay the price. For Dumars in this proposal are exactly ZERO "incetives". But dumars CAN wait with rip ...til next year trade deadline and rip's practically expiring will be a hot commodity. @KGREG I prefer to wait for 1 one year instead of giving away rip AND 1ST ROUND PICK for TOTALLY dead wood.
I'd rather waive Rip than give up a 1st rounder.
Is it possible to be THAT bad? Let me be clear, I would NOT surrender a pick to get rid of Rip.Allowing teams to watch Rip play for another year may actually COST us a pick
1. but nets ASKS a pick 2. nex year, rip is irrelevant - his contract is not. I yet have to see a reason why people here are so excited about this trade proposal.
What they ask for and what they get are 2 different things, I doubt that they'll risk losing Melo over our pick. Don't be so sure about how easy moving Rip will be next season, teams haven't exactly beat down our door for Tayshaun so far. I'm excited because we can finally shorten our rotation. We've seen over an over again that the only time Ben Gordon is Ben Gordon is when Richard Hamilton is not around. We shed $12.65M off the salary for next season; Tyson Chandler, Deandre Jordan and Zac Randolph are all free agents next season and will make solid additions to our team.
zach randolph wants what stoudamire got, chandler plays well and targets 12-15 mil - a la boozer(???), deandre jordan -no idea.
