Lesser of two evils for me. - One, Jackson Kobe don't get 11 and 5 respectfully. All the naysayers that had Sheed all washed up and out shape and a locker room cancer can kiss his azzzz. All the refs that cheated him can kiss his azzzz. It would make him a better gravy-trainer than Shak. I guess I'm happy for him. I know he doesn't get another big contract. - P.S. He gravy-trained CB and Rip for his first one.
From the games I have seen Sheed does not seem to be a central part of that team. I don't know if that will change against Howard and Orlando or not - which is probably why they signed him.
The Knicks are an interesting team right now. Amare down and Sheed in equals defensive mastery? Sheed's defensive rating is best on the team right now at 91! The Knicks have held every opponent to under 40 points in the 2nd halves. Jason Kidd has a completely ridiculous oRAT of 155 and dRAT of 95 with real minutes under his belt. That is probably the biggest differential I've ever seen for a guy with more than a few GT minutes. The Knicks have won every game so far by double figures while getting out rebounded in every one of them (as ESPN pointed out). They are the best offensive team in the league so far They are the 2nd best defensive team in the league (thanks to Mike Woodson, Jason Kidd, Sheed, Camby, Thomas, Chandler, Felton, etc.) Their pace matches their aged lineup as they are 25th. It's grind it out half court bball like we like it. And it's a vet parade: K Thomas- 40 Kidd- 39 Camby- 38 Sheed- 38 Prigioni- 35 It's gotta be tempting to want to trade Amare after getting better all around effects from Sheed for a fraction of the cost ($1.3MM vs $20MM). Sheed's averaging 19 points, 10 rebs, and 2 blocks per 36 min with fundamental post defense. And the craziest part about all of this is that they have a motivated JR Smith. He's shooting .737 from 3-point land, he's actually playing defense, and he credits it all to his new found dedication to the game (i.e. he has admitted that going to the clubs every other night was hindering his performance). Interesting that this is happening in a contract year for him... Overall, it's good that this combination of players is working out for the Knicks because they are locked up with these players for a while. Amare is the albatross and it would seem that they are completely stuck with him for 3 more years. He might be a terror off the bench if they go that route.
Carmelo is not a winner and will screw this up. JR Smith will also contribute to screwing this up. This team won't make it our of the 2nd round.
They have some other players that are Champions though. Kidd, Chandler, Sheed. Felton and Camby are both effective, tough, and good defensive players. Having 1 pure scorer in the starting lineup and 1 off the bench isn't a bad model if they are surrounded by defensive talent. I'm not calling for a Championship here, but this is a massive improvement to Knicks teams over the past several years.
If Sheed plays a major role in dispatching the Heat in the playoffs, it would be *almost* as sweet as the Pistons making the ECF.
Here's how I see this playing out: Melo, being the cancer patient that he is, will storm out of practice one day after Sheed is "too honest" with him. ...After a few things are said back and forth in the press, Woodson gets fired for not having "control" of his players. ...With coach Wood gone, Sheed retires. ...J.R. Smith get's in a nightclub altercation with members of Wiz Khalifa's entourage and get arrested. ...Kidd blows out his knee and Camby wrecks his back. Both of these senior citizens decide to sit out the remainder of the year. The Knicks, led by Melo, Amare, Felton and a bunch of scrubs get beat by Boston in the 1st round.
The Knicks do seem legit. They appear to have some balance on their roster. I guess we'll have to see if this is more than a 6 game hot streak.
Totally plausible. That would be the best reality show around. Btw, the Association (or whatever the name of that NBA reality show) would be way more interesting if the starring team really stunk. Having an inside look at the Pistons would be great, especially if we could see Kander hazing Daye and BOT on a weekly basis.

Why did you bring up this old thread ? You should move/start to Knicks 2012. I can't even muster hostility against Sheed anymore. I am happy for Woodson only, I think he gets it done. * Lets keep an eye on Melo, lets see if he's a ball stopper in crunch time.
I haven't seen Melo pound the ball for 15 seconds before he shoots a long J. They've been moving the ball. He seems to drive more playing the 4.
Sheed is out with a sore foot and the Rockets disintegrate the Knicks. Coincidence? Melo still had a 30+ point game and it didn't matter in the least without the defense. Harden with another monster game: 33 points (16-16 from the line) 9 assists +27 on the night And Chandler Parsons: 31 points on 13-17 shooting with 4 treys. Only 1 made FT! 5 rebs 4 ast 4 stl 1 blk The guy did just about everything
