Yep. In a vacuum this deal is favoring Denver big time, but if you get the lottery pick and it helps are balance then it may be start to be win-win. With McGee and Faried there is not a lot of post play so Monroe is a different look.

I think he'd view it as an insult and bolt for some place like Phoenix or Golden State faster than you can say "AND-one"!
If Joe & Mo trully want to keep Smith, Monroe and Drummond happy, you gotta let all three of them get their names called by Mason before every game.

If not, you gotta be proactive with the situation and adjust your roster accordingly.

If the situation presented itself, would anyone swap Greg Monroe for Harrison Barnes?

Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer a starter if we are going to trade Monroe.

No way that deal gets done methinks. I would consider it though. Barnes is a good defender, has a bit of range and a lot of potential. I also like that sweet rookie contract.

Me too. Harrison Barnes and Wilson Chandler would start on this team.

I cannot believe what I'm reading.

Wilson Chandler has been in the league 6 years. He's not gonna improve. He is not a bad player, but he's a role player. If we ever proposed a trade where we swap a 16/10 center who also happens to be one of the top players in that category in steals & assists, for a bench player plus an unknown risk, Denver would jump at it.

Harrison Barnes is even a worse proposition. Yes, he's young but he's not gonna win you any games, on either end of the floor. You put Kyle Singler next to Stephen Curry and he'll also look good.

All Moose has to do is hit that mid-range shot. When he does that, between him and Drummond we will a front-court that can dominate the eastern conference for the next 10 years. He has shown that he can improve, so I'm quite hopeful that this will come to pass.

We need to find a piece that plugs the last hole we have on our lineup. If we punch another hole to fill that one, we'll still be left with a hole.

Fair enough. I factored in the Max deal Monroe is going to want and probably get into the decision. Monroe is worse than Hibbert and Cousins, but will be paid as their equals. I see a David Lee career arc in Monroe. He can't play defense, can't shoot and is super slow. It is just my personal opinion. Also, in my trade we get a lottery pick in the upcoming draft which is worth a lot.

I'm not in favour of paying Monroe max money. Personally I think he is better than Cousins - less of a head case, better scorer, better passer, but I don't think Sacramento are going to get a good ROI for the contract they gave him.

Here is the thing. If Joe doesn't think he is worth max money, then if someone else offers him max money, that opens up the door to a S&T and maybe we can steal someone elses Kenny Middletone.

Smith is stealing Monroe's assist opps, so we're not even getting the full benefit out of one of his best skills.

How about Monroe and Jerebko for Aaron Aflfalo and Maurice Harkless from Orlando??

Gives us the 3 pt shooting and wing defense we need.

We get screwed on that trade. Afflalo is playing well but he doesn't solve our problems. We need to be able to get something very good in return for Monroe.

I'm getting tired of hearing about us trading for Afflalo.

Well you haven't put up a scenario yet so who do you think we would be able to land who actually helps us?

And don't forget about Harkless either. You can plug him in the starting lineup for a player in Jonas who is hardly playing any minutes for us at all.

Don't get stuck like Joe D has for many years and over value your own players.

Just to give you an idea on how much national writers think of Monroe's value these are the two trade scenarios that were put forward.
Monroe straight up for Danny Green in San Antonio.
    or
Greg Monroe and Rodney Stuckey in a 3 way deal with Sacto and Toronto in which Detroit gets DeMarr Derozan and John Salmons.
Now do you like those deals??
Consider Greg hasn't been on a winning team.
    His fault or not notwithstanding.
    He has no jump shot.
He is a below average defender.
Greg Monroe simply may not get you as much as you think.

The other side of this argument is that the market does not think he's worth max money. That opens the door for us keeping him for less than the max, which is not a bad thing.

Kawhi Leonard is going to become a FA next year when San Antonio finally retires (Duncan, Parker, Genobili are all up then). He should be one of the primary targets for us. If you swap Moose with Leonard in our current lineup, we get Jennings-Pope-Leonard-Smith-Drummond. Very good defensive lineup that can cover Jennings' gambles. If Leonard doesn't want to stay around for SAS to rebuild from scratch, we should make a big push for him.
