This used to be a very good, very insightful blog. Now it reads like everything else, cynical, and clueless.

Granted, I don't pay much attention to how the mediaverse is developing, but when did this start to get so bad?

Well, the writer wasn't a fan of the Smith signing, it appears.

It has nothing to do with any article on Smith. It's the general smarmyness of all of the articles.

They're having a hell of a time with the sagging pistons of late.

I like a lot of their analysis, but the tone of this last article was horrible. It's an opinion piece that went way overboard in trying to sound authoritative.

Even though I agree that some of the arguments raised are valid, it's way too early to damn the signing. It hasn't been tested yet, there's enough minutes for everybody, and Joe might not be done shuffling the pieces. We also have a very young 2nd year player in the mix who may not be ready for big minutes, end game situations, or the grind of a full NBA season yet. Asking Drummond to play behind Smith and Monroe is much different than asking Ben Gordon to play behind Rip Hamilton.

My OP wasn't related to any criticisms of the Smith signing. The entire blog seems to be written for by a bunch of randoms who don't come off as Pistons fans, and certainly not as very knowledgeable about the game. It's a lot of the same attitude that permeates older basketball forums and I have fought like heck to keep from gaining ground here.

I don't think we're a bunch of rose coloured goofballs and I think our analysis is solid and certainly we don't all agree with each other at the same time. It's just these "Pistons LOL Pistons are dumb" posts really bother me.

Anyway, I miss Matt Watson and his blogging at DBB back in the day. You looked forward to getting his take, which was that of a fan trying to find balance in his perspective.

I don't like DBB. So much of their writing seems contrived and out of touch. Very rarely do they add the context of an event. The Smith signing cannot be viewed in a vacuum, for just one example.

Also, its hard to show Laker-esque levels of homerdom when the most recent event on the Pistons stage is signing the guy who holds the record for screaming at officials most.
