Pistons Roster Keep: CB - Veteran PG. If we trade him, we trade the real face of the franchise. RS - Young PG with tremendous potential. Will be a star one day, maybe even next year. Prince - Great defender, he becomes a little better every year. McDyess - Said he wants to stay for a championship, could come off bench. Maxiell - Another future face. Brings energy and defense. Amir - Great rebounder and athletic guy with lots of potential. ???: Aaron Afflalo - Nice to bring off the bench for defense, but I don't see the pistons not packaging him in a trade. Jarvis Hayes - Good scorer, decent defender, but inconsistent. Most likely won't sign with Detroit again. Juan Dixon - Not a chance. Theo Ratliff - Possibly, if the pistons want big man insurance once more. Cheick Samb - Will most likely be packaged in a trade. Like most drafted big men, he will never get a chance. Walter Hermann - Will never get a chance, wants to play for a euro league. Hunter - Will retire and join pistons staff. Rip - Valuable in trade, but do we want to risk losing one of the NBA's premier mid range shooters in favor of young blood? Got to go: Sheed - A great all around player, but his emotions have hampered our playoff runs. He most likely will ask for a trade, and he has value. Who to look for in trades: Ben Gordon/Luol Deng - Gordon is an excellent shooter but a defensive liability. Could be a great 6th or 7th man. Deng is a good shooter, could pull down 5-6 boards a game. Marcus Camby - A beast inside, what we've been missing the past 3 years. The Nuggets are most likely going to re-build after their pitiful round 1 exit. Elton Brand - Can get us 20 and 10, score on the block and knock down jumpers. Suggestions?
IMO Rip is too valuable to be moved. I'm liking the Camby and Luol Deng considerations, if possible, throw in JR Smith, he would be great in Detroit.
I don't want Camby, he's older than Sheed. We need to find a way to get McDyess back to the bench, and have a legitimate SF backup for Tay. Imagine what we'd be like if we had a Rodney Stuckey-esque rookie behind Tay. That would be awesome!
