Alright I know we got some jr. economist here. And other types of money changers. So what will the Pistons sell for?
In the poll it'll be the final cash number we read from the Det.News., coo ?
I know the price could skyrocket if JD or Q were to suddenly exit.
    We've heard a low of $360M and a high of $460M.
For all you guys that think you know money...the repeat offenders in the "Oil Bubble" thread... should have to pay a penalty if you're off by more than $20M.
... Say, going in that thread and admitting you don't know buger about money !

I really can't speculate about the cost of the team until we know the year in which it sells...

    Well, we're consistent so far.

    I don't think they'll go below 400, so...

I like the varying interval sizes. You adjusted them based on data of earlier sales of professional sports clubs in the US market to make the probablity of the intervals equal, right? Good thinking, alot of guys would just have picked some random numbers.

I was just impressed that you didn't have over-lapping intervals or sale prices that didn't fit into any intervals....

I think it should go for 350-360, but I just see the League not letting it be sold for under 400... The latest bit of articles didn't say it but sure felt like it was between the lines that the she wants to sell for a lower price and isn't being allowed to...

That sounds plausible. Stern could be telling her the owners won't approve the sale if it's too low.

I hope sell of the team will be soon. i think new cba,tay/wilcox expirings and next 3 draft picks will be major reasson to give up 360 millions, the lower supossed buy offer of ilicht.

Next seasson signed contracts with new cba will be shorter in years and one harder cap, this is better for gores, more sustainable to own the pistons than present economic situation.
    392-410 $ ?...my bet

the state the team is in right now, it will go bargain price. Stern will ok the deal in hopes that new ownership can make the team functional again. With possible lockout looming KD doesnt want that on her watch so she tried to get top dollar, now shes just gonna sign the contract handed to her

Super business man Howard Schultz sold off the SuperSonics at the height of the economic boom for $350 million. That team included Ray Allen, Luke Ridnour, and Rashard Lewis on a reasonable contract.

Unless the Pistons sale includes the Palace and the Lightning, I just can't see Karen getting over $400 million for this team.

I am guessing the deal will be so complicated with current owners or others holding some shares or options on shares with agreements to sell at a future date at unknown prices that putting a single price on the sale will be a little fuzzy. I picked 361 to 391 because the announced price will look like Gores gave in a little but not much.:)

Stern has no interest in having this team functional any time soon. He's working as hard as it is on trying to get a Kobe vs LeBron finals. Last thing he needs is another team capable of spoiling the party.

I really have a hard time not buying into those theories with the past we've had here in Detroit.... but I have been thinking the same thing with the reports coming out about Stern forcing a higher price.

The Brain in me keeps telling me things really arn't fixed against us over and over again.... but my heart sure wants to buy it.

The only conspiracy in this case is that the league doesn't want the franchise sold for a price that will bring down the average value of the rest of the teams. Therefore they are involving themselves in the negotiation because they can pressure Mrs D by refusing to approve the sale unless she gets a certain amount. Gores on the other hand knows how to negotiate and he won't pay more than the team is worth. Hence Mrs D's comments that she's lost control of the process.

This is just my opinion but I think it is backed up by the little that we've heard so far about the process.
