-Not money, cuz Joe won't pay it

I think Joe has paid his players fairly and a handsomely. Chancey , Rip Tay, and Sheed have all been signed to fair extentions. Its not Joe's fault that Ben outplayed his first contract. His contract was signed way before he was a 4 time Defensive POY. And only a fool (Chicago) would have payed him 15mill per for 4yrs on the downside of his career. If we can get a top Free Agent, Joe will pay them.

If the Lions can attract FAs to Detroit, then the Pistons should have no trouble. The key is for Joe to pick up at least 3 contributors in the next 2 years. I'm afraid the cupboard is bare right now. He'll need luck...

    ...hmmmmm.

    10. For young players, a seemingly endless period of development (see Amir Johnson).

    9. Team provides a unique opportunity for players to actually be more intelligent than the coach that they play for.

    8. Pistons provide a comfortable place for “tweeners” and undersized players to fill out a roster.

    7. Trainer personally places banana peels on your groin. Have you ever had a banana peel on your groin? – It feels great!

    6. Extend your career by taking advantage of the “in-game breaks” that Tayshaun Prince provides while he palms the ball. – (It’s like getting an extra halftime!)

    5. Public urination is legal for professional athletes in Detroit casinos.

    4. You like setting screens? There’s PLENTY of screens to be set in the “Rip Hamilton” offense!

    3. A new coach every other year assures players that they’ll eventually get one that they "really relate to".

    2. Free Gatorade on the bench!

    1. Team allows veteran players the opportunity to earn cap-free income by hosting nightclub parties on road trips!

Why would he not pay it?

I am glad we don't have a team that throws 100 mil contracts at guys that are not worth it. If the right player comes along he will pay it. Problem is that its so rare for a franchise type player to change teams.

Me too...but to FA's looking for a big payday, that makes Detroit unattractive.

Think about it. How many guys worth a huge deal have switched teams?

There was Reggie Lewis but I don't think he was worth 18mil/yr or whatever he got. Thats going to hamper Orlando's ability to compete.

Who else? Guess we will see this summer. If a deal is there then a deal is there. Its not going to matter what Dumars did in the past.
