    Nominate some please.

It can include their career outside of Detroit, or when we were playing better.

Baynsey always brings it. 1 vote for him. He doesn't take nights off.

    Ish brings it too.

We have few players who plays with heart and zero mentally tough players. Maybe Ish. Diving for loose balls, setting mean screens and showing up each game like Baynesy isn't being mentally tough, that is playing with heart.

I was watching the game last night, and twice a Piston could have stepped up and taken a charge, and they chose not to.

I'm not saying he was mentally tough, but man do we miss a guy like Illy who would literally take a hit for the team.

The lack of responses may answer your question.

    Agreed.

It is surprising that @Ernie the Slow Adult@Ernie the Slow Adult won't name Drummond since Ernie is the Chairman of the Drummond Forever Hugs and Kisses Hall of Fame Club.

I think the lack of responses shows that mental makeup isn't the issue. You can say a lot of things about the game last night but you can't say they weren't playing hard.

They don't lack heart. They lack structure. Did you see the shots they took in the 4th Q?

KCP shot like he wanted Mr. Shoot and Pray to catch on. They all did because they had to. They could not get open.

I agree they were playing hard. The offense really sucked in the 4th quarter. It does look good at times.

We have a lot of good pieces, but it seems like we have too many nice guys on the team. I think we lack leadership. There is some sort of intangible that is missing. We don't have a guy like Zeke who could take over a game when the going gets tough.

You still haven't nominated Dre as a mentally tough player.

I don't think it is too many nice guys. I think it's a lack of drive. The only high motor guys are SJ, Ish, and Pope. 2 come off the bench.

We knew when we drafted Dre that he had a low motor. That was in ALL of the college scouting reports. If you zone in on him on defense, you will see it continually. Not poor technique or bad scheme. It is a wandering focus, and at times abysmal energy. A guy that big and that athletic should be dominating the paint EVERY NIGHT. Instead, I pray he can run back on defense before the other team scores.

It's not just Dre but when your biggest star, and highest paid player isn't carrying his weight, everyone else lets up. I don't think you can have other leaders emerge when the top dog isn't setting the tone as Zeke and Ben did.

The boss has to be the boss. Leadership cannot be deferred. That is why I have advocated for leadership from a veteran bench until Dre is ready, assuming that will happen with time like we assume his FTs are going to go in regularly one magical day.

I suppose RJ could do it, but with a team quasi-mutiny blaming him for selfishness on offense, I don't see him leading the team anytime soon. To lead you need willing followers or at least people you can brainwash, as I have brainwashed most of you.

Maybe Morris could do it, but despite his aggression, he seems the reluctant leader type like Sheed. He speaks up when he's asked to not when he senses the team's need for leadership.

We need someone who is going to flip the locker room after a loss and call people out. We need someone who is going to take 100% of the blame for a loss and go out the next game and play 2x better to show people how it is done.

SVG was right earlier in the season. Talk is not leadership. ACTION is leadership.

The lack of response could also indicate lack of forum mental toughness.

I'd have to go with John Leuer. I saw him take a charge earlier this season.
