Well in light of the draft developments, there's talk of trading for a big guy in the middle or moving someone like Sheed into the middle. Does anybody know where Cheikh Samb stands (7'1") or more specifically how much he weighs when he stands... Can he come in and play 10-15min this coming season?

According to wiki, he's 7'2" 240lbs and led the league in blocked shots, registering more blocks than the totals of all but one other team in the league. If it is true, I start liking the guy more and more. I'll try to find any new info on him.

Sounds good, i think i heard a couple months back about how they were planning on keeping him in Europe one more year, maybe we can push the schedule up, 240 ain't bad, i had a feeling that in addition to the lack of Detroit-type centers available, the reason we chose guards (and not a center) is because of Cheikh being the future guy in the middle for us...

This is a translation from Spanish article written looks like on May 11, so please mind that when reading:

Detroit Pistons vuelven a la carga con el canterano azulgrana Cheikh Samb y Raps piensan si hacer un contrato millonario a Mitchell - Solobasket.com, Todo sobre el Baloncesto ACB, LEB, LEB-2, Liga Fem
From what I deduce in this article, Pistons may be inclined to bring Samb back here this year rather than waiting for another year. He put on some bulk and looks quite a bit stronger.

Here's the link to Samb's stats:
FEB || Federación Española de Baloncesto ||

It's all in Spanish. Looks like he was 52% on field goals, 50% on 3's (only 5 for 10), 61% on free throws. Maybe someone here who can read Spanish can explain the rest of the stats.

Here's an article that mentions that he might be offered a long term deal in Spain:

    Gracias Senior Roscoe

Okay, so lets say we get Cheikh in the states for the upcoming season, what do you think he could contribute in terms of minutes, is he NBDL material or you think we could put him somewhere on the bench in a Darko role (victory cigar... in which case the D league would be better)

I'm confused... LA is the capital of Mexican food?... I thought it was called Tex-Mex for a reason... Spurs, Mavs, Rockets anyone?

Los Angeles is Mexico regardless of the those Alamo stories they keep replaying in Texas. Texas is Angus and Los Angeles is Tacos
