In reading all of those posts and analyzing all of the scenarios our team is encountering right now, I have no idea how we are gonna seriously contend for a title next year. In saying that I feel that we will contend and be in the top 4 as far as the eastern conf. is concerned but will we have enough especially in the playoffs to get past a tough Chicago team, Wade and Shaq, and the NBA endorsed Lebroniers. Our 4 core players are still fantastic but I really feel that if we cannot get a center who can play solid on D, be a presence in the middle and give us some much needed pts in the paints, there is absolutely no reason to be overly optimistic. I honestliy believe that we need a major impact player in the center position, if we dont find a way to get that done than there is basically no reason to get our hopes up for another title run. We need an IMPACT center, a PENETRATING, smart PG, a consistent back-up shooting guard. I would lose delf, nazr, flip(although he is staying), lindsey(needs to retire, give him a front office job). I will for sure be here next year to support our squad with some fervor but I will definitely watch from a little afar as oppose to being semi-obssesed with this team. I believe that this organization may be past the point of giving it all they have to put a true championship contender on the floor. They have no reason to. We sell out every game, our popularity is among the elite in the league, and we will still retain our 4 core players. We may have become the Braves and Bills of the NBA. After 2005, they guys upstairs knew what we had and said "%%%% it we're still gonna get paid no reason for urgency here." LIke I said I will be here but it will be more as a casual fan than as an obsessive one.
Forget that, the center of the future is already on the squad! Play Maxiell! Everytime he's in the game he provides explosive D and scoring, yet Flip refuses to play him consistently.

Hope this helps you all out for the long run :D **Info from ESPN, The god of sports**
Bring back Theo Ratliff and Otis Thorpe. It would have been nice to have had both of them at the same time when they were both in their prime.
Jason Maxiell is shorter even shorter than Rip though. I say Maxiell should stay with the PF position.
Thorpe actually had better career numbers than Sheed. As I remember he was also one tough hombre on defense. C-Webb was actually traded for Thorpe in 1998 Bio - Chris Webber Wikipedia RSS Feed Chris Webber Otis Thorpe Statistics - Basketball-Reference.com Rasheed Wallace Statistics - Basketball-Reference.com
I like paul davis at the PF for us.. good player and good effort. and he played at MSU Bring in patterson too ..and matt barnes.. lol maybee some trades but wed get alot scrappier in a heartbeat with those 3.. bring in artest and the defensive transformation is complete. :P can u imagine running a lineup of 1.Delf 2.Patterson. 3.Tay 4.Artest 5.maxy
What about Marcus Camby? I dont know what it would take to get him, but I'm sure it would involve offloading Sheed in the process and most likely a 3rd or 4th team to get it done. I get the feeling he isnt exactly untouchable from Denvers point of view either, even after having just won DPOY, I think it would be worth enquiring about. C - Marcus Camby / Chris Webber (?) / Dale Davis PF - Antonio McDyess / Jason Maxiell SF - Tayshaun Prince / Amir Johnson SG - Richard Hamilton / Flip Murray / Carlos Delfino PG - Chauncey Billups / Javaris Crittenton (?) / Will Blalock I would be happy with a line up like that, nice combo of youth and veteran leadership, and it tightens up our Front Court defense. Unlikely to happen, though it would be ideal.
I'm pretty sure Camby will never ever have a season like last one again. He'll probably spend most of next season in street clothes due to injuries. What about Magloire? If he gets PT, he's a very solid rebounder, but a weak shot blocker. He would be only a slight upgrade to Nazr. imho- still, Nazr seems to be on the trading block. Play Nazr the first 20 games so that he gains some value and then get a decent PG for him.
Whether he likes it or not, if Flip returns he is going to do some baby-sitting this year. The trade/MLE route is not going to be enough to restock the team for "one more run." Sheed is our new C unless it's one of our young guys or draft picks. If it's Dale Davis or Nancy I will probably cancel my subscription to league pass.
I don't like Magolire's game for the stones, they thrive on mobile and versatile big men, that isn't even kinda his game. The NBA is turning into nothing more than a pick and roll exhibition and he is horrible for that style of play. I'd rather go 'small', it's not like between Sheed, Dyess, and Amir you couldn't check 90% of the centers in the NBA anyways. I'm getting a little off topic here, but wouldn't Luke Walton be a great backup for tay for 15-20 mins per game?
Sadly, this is the same conclusion I have come to. Which is why it is necessary to take a hard look at what it might cost to re-sign Billups.
It was pretty cool to read about Walton's son "Luke" being born in Breaks of the Game and being named after Maurice Lucas.
This reminds me of a situation I had with a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. It had 175,000 miles on it and I wanted to put new rims and tires on it. My Dad, who worked at Jeep, cautioned me about putting good money after bad. I got the rims anyway and then parts just started falling off. Anyway, the engine died a year later, but the rims looked really good. Giving big money to Chauncey or anyone we would probably get in a S&T feels like buying new rims for that old truck. Maybe I should send my Dad to talk to Joe...
