It's deja vu all over again...let's have another poll to see who the next coach should be. Bill Laimbeer was the heavy favorite last year at this time.

    Jeff Van Gundy

Hire BL as an assistant possiby.

I like Thibodeou, but i'm not sure if getting another rookie coach is the best idea.

I think Laimbs should get his shot, although Joe might want to go back to a more experienced option after striking out with Curry.

"Someone else" voters (*cough* Roscoe *cough*), who do you want?

Sheed will retire and become head coach. You heard it here first.

I really don't know. I was prepared to spend another season with Curry.

The guys on the list don't excite me. I could be down with Laimbs, but he's just going to become hated by fans if the team doesn't succeed.

I think JVG has been blacklisted. Collins is a hot head, he's Vitale with none of the upside. He's always under performed with good talent.

Avery Johnson is a middling coaching talent. Flash in the pan.

I simply do not know. I expect Joe will do something spectacular or disappointing. I can't see him spending good money on a coach who is a caretaker until the team is good, and I don't see many superstar coaches looking for jobs.

Nice Thread D4E, I am going Laims all the way with JVG as second choice.

Did the Shock fan turn on him when he failed to bring home the title?

Don't think Pistons fans would be too upset if the team goes 3 for 6 with Laimbeer at the helm.

Did you guys listen to JVG when he was announcing? He's insane and unlikable.

He's like David Spade in Tommy Boy.

NO MORE rookie coaches in training. Let Laim go to Milwaukee or Sacremento first. My preferences:

    1. ME..............i aint scared of nobody, Army expirience
    2. AVERY.........the fire is in his belly;would be good for Stuckey
    3. VAN GUNDY...did a lot with less in Houston

Plus, I would take Micheal Cooper over Laimbeer, WNBA not withstanding.

5 coaching changes in Joe's tenure is not good.

I would enjoy Avery in Detroit, at least get some toughness back in the palace.

I'd go for Jeff Van Gundy. The last thing we need is a guy without experience again.

I voted for JVG in the poll, but on second thought Joe's only got a week to name a new coach. He's not going to enamore a significant free agent if the housekeeping isn't done around here. And that means having a respectable coach in place. This is where I wonder whether JVG or Collins is still viewed with respect by the players in the league. We need a guy who the players repect and trust to execute the responsibilities of head coach.
