Don't we already have a backup power forward making 4+ mil/season - Jason Maxiel. Don't we BADLY need a center!?

    C: Brown
    PF: Villanueva, Bass, Maxiel
    SF: Prince, Daye, Sharpe
    SG: Hamilton, Gordon, Afflalo
    PG: Stuckey, Bynum

I'd asume if were making a serious play for bass that Joe has decided that max isn't the answer and he'll be part of a trade to get a center.

We really need to ship out one guard, if we keep Rip and Gordon then Afflalo deserves to be traded to give him a chance to play... he's to good to waste away on the bench.

I'd also like to hear if the plug has been pulled on sharpe?

Bass is better than Max (marginally), and a Bass+AA could get you Marcus Camby (#'s wise), Clips need both a backup PF(Max) and a guard behind Gordon (Richardson stays hurt and AA is a very good and cheap insurance Policy). Camby is not a part of their future and they wouldn't mind saving $1m this season.

Agree with this scenario...Max has given us the Max he can give and would be better off servicing another team. Alf would love to get back to LA and finish up his studies at UCLA.

So I like the Max and Alf to Clipps if could happen...just concerned about Camby's health and if he can give us 60 games.

Becouse Maxiell will be a trading item so we need a backup PF,if he gets traded.

    Personaly I don't like Camby as our main center.He's my only choise,if we don't get a better C.Why I don't like Camby:
    1.Age
    2.Injury prone.
3.A poor man vs man defender
4.He's only got 1-2 better season in his game.So he's not a long term player.
    5.An overrated defender.

Bass seems to be more consistent and more productive than Max. I'd love to see a switch with Max going somewhere and Bass replacing him.

Bass can shoot where it hurts the most...at the high post. Max. Its amazing if he hits one of those.

Bass can play center. He was Dallas best center in the playoffs. Erica Dampier was always in foul trouble. Can he defend Shaq. probably not. But he is strong enough to handle most in the league.

If we're signing Bass (and we will be), keeping Rip (and we are, because that contract is UNTRADEABLE in this economy) then AA and Maxiel become ABSOLUTELY USELESS!!!! Camby playing 35 games would be more helpful than not moving those two.

We are goingto sign Bass, count on it!

Last year Camby played 62 games, Avg'd 10.3ppg, 11.3rpg, and 2.1bpg, playing 30mpg. He has a $7.6M EXPIRING contract. IMHO, in his old age Camby is just as effective as Chandler is, has more offensive game and is a helluva lot cheaper and easier to obtain.

This is not the draft, where you pick a keeper...hopefully to fill an immediate or a surprising (a year or two later) void that slides into a positional need.

Trades are selective. They fill a void now needed and freeing up other options that leave cracks to explore other host of potential relationships.

The closeness of a want sometimes needs to have an association. JMax and Bass will be fillers. Do we need fillers?

Your close encounters (Rip and Tay) has proven associations. What you present is a role you want to play. To be a leading man, you play Hamlet (no matter where) instead of Laertes (who is everywhere).

That's about what I was thinking. Not to de-humanize the players but you add pieces when you see a good deal and later on maybe a couple of solid 4's can get us a decent 5.

    Better than doing nothing anyway.

The same can be said about who Joe Dumars has selected with the 15th pick the last couple of years.

Nope, you're spot on. Now the question is, will they match Dallas' offer to Gortat?

Good point...Gortat was a big time performer on D when Dwight was in foul trouble in the playoffs.
