Not really, but I thought it might grab some readers. Actually the Garnett trade will do something that I have not yet seen mentioned. That is, it will return the Celtics to ESPN headline time. Finally, after all of these dead Celtic years ESPN gets a renewed opportunity to hype another local Boston team. So now we can look forward to 2007 NBA media coverage to be in order. 1. Durant 2. Celtics 3. Oden 4. Suns 5. Mavs 6. Bulls 7. Commercials 8. Commentary 9. Other teams and players
I like it. Trades and new blood make the league more interesting. I'd like to see more of this not less. I think the league / union has swung too far toward limiting player movement. I'd rather see GMs rated on their ability to evaluate talent rather than their ability to divine the entrails of the CBA.
Why I like this trade: It will help put the Pistons under the radar while the Celtics and LeBron get all the coverage. While the Pistons are under the radar though they better get a hell of a game plan and finally finish playoff series instead of burning out.

I have never understood how a term that refers to one of the most pleasurable experiences that a person can have, can have such a negative connotation.
I hate this trade simply because I live in the Boston area and I hear about it every time I turn on the radio. Initial reports said Heinsohn wet himself when he heard about the deal.
LOL Zoo, God rest their souls, but I am sure Auerbach and Johnny Most did the same....... Agree wit Himat, that with all the attention of the celtics, we can hide below the radar while our team meshes with the new guys. ESPN and TNT are already scrambling to get ahold of the schedule from the NBA. Look for the Celtics to go from 3 nationally televised games to 13!!
I gotta say, after watching that press conference and seeing how giddy those guys are, and the great attitudes they all bring to the table... I'm a little afraid. I know the whole season is ahead, and Boston will still be filling out their roster maybe with a Boykins (they need a point), or a Matt Barnes (my personal favorite in the FA market). But I think this team will be scary, and thats a very good thing for our Pistons. I love the way our team plays when it feels disrespected and under appreciated. I know that our Pistons have a lot of pride, and when the national attention starts doubting Motown after the last two years, and starts putting emphasis on Cleveland, Chicago, Wade, and now Boston, our guys will react in a very positive way.
I am willing to wager anyone on this board right now a case of beer that the Celtics don't win over 50 games this year.
I was thinking the same exact thing... well if Boston does win more than 50 i would say something Bostonian... a variant of Sam Adams?
The Celtics will be the 5th best defensive team in the East. Behind Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and the Knicks............... Therefore, no Finals for the Celtics!!!!!!!
You may be right, however, that wouldn't preclude them from making it to the NBA Finals so I'm not going to place much in what the regular season holds for them good or bad. I personally am not sold on the C's. I'm not concerned with the big three having to play huge minutes every night (okay maybe Ray Allen concerns me there), but I am NOT sold on Rondo being the starter on a Championship ballclub; furthermore, I am not sold on Perkins being a 40+ minute starter on any ballclub. There are chinks in Bostons armor despite the newfound hype.
Boston's off season is hardly over... SI.com - Writers - Chris Mannix: Supporting cast will be key for Celtics - Tuesday July 31, 2007 5:39PM We'll see what roll players they can pick up and whose willing to work for peanuts to piggy back on this trio
Celtics Roster | Celtics.com Look how weak the rest of the roster is now. The Celtics gave up their #5 pick, two future picks, Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, and Telfair in order to get KG and Ray Allen.
