"Commissioner Stern is at the Finals today. I hope to have him show up at one of our Finals soon".

    This I like. :)

Talking about the Detroit community he said:
"I need to deliver on the standards of your passion"

He's saying all the right things.

This is interesting bit. He mentioned that the initial closing date was 6/30, but they moved it up and rushed it because he wanted to start making decisions and NBA wouldn't let them do that, or even talk to Dumars.

He also said that decisions and changes are coming very soon.

This IS interesting: Joe is my BB man, but I'm going to push him and he knows that.

Owner isn't a yes man, but it sounds like he has a healthy respect for his BB people.

    About Kuester's future:

"I at least owe Coach Kuester the courtesy of meeting with him. We'll start with that and go from there, but we're going to make that decision very quickly."

Ouch. Kuester is gone tomorrow folks.

He kept on talking about combining the entertainment business and the baskeball business and how it's currently not so together. I wonder if you're going to see stuff like season ticket holders getting free concert tickets etc.

It sounds like he's willing to pay the lux tax but only if it makes sense. A frugal owner with deep pockets. That could mean that he's prepared to spend money but not without a plan. If it means what I think it is, that's a good thing. We're willing to spend money but won't be stupid enough to sign Gilbert Arenas-type contracts.

This guy is certainly saying all the right things. I know he's supposed to say the right things no matter what his plans are but I still like hearing it.

And LOL, who's the clown from Detroit Free Press?

He kept on talking about hard work and practicing hard. That completely shuts the door on an AI comeback.:nerd2:

We have a great base to start with. There is a core in place and we just need to build around that. We have a good core for this team, and that's where we'll start and add pieces to it. Last year we had a great draft pick and that's the base.

LOL, anyone but Monroe is trade fodder. :pound::pound::pound:

"Yes, we will make mistakes. But, what we won't do is sit with those mistakes. If we make a mistake, then we need to fix it as soon as we realize it is a mistake"

All the while looking at Joe D. Stuckey's gone! Rip's gone! :pound:

That was a great kickoff to the Gores era of Pistons basketball. He said all the right things, and it looked like he's got a good plan. He mentioned the draft several times and he also mentioned that we'll be moving really fast with certain changes. I think the next two weeks will see some interesting news come up. I wouldn't be surprised if we'll be wheeling and dealing on draft night either.

I was laughing at that too. :pound:

Sounds like he wants the Pistons to return to being a gritty team again by all the talk about finding a niche and how important the culture of the club is. Sayonara CAS!

Overall, great stuff from Five-Buttons! I almost got a bit fired up.

Yeah, this guy has not come here to watch the club fall apart without acting.

Thanks guys, but it's worth watching. He somehow gets you pumped up even though he speaks in a calm voice.
