Will the Donaghy scandal help the Pistons?

Discussion in 'Detroit Pistons General Discussion' started by himat, Jul 31, 2007.

?

Will the Donaghy case help the Pistons get fairer calls?

It will immediately effect how the game is called, and the Pistons will benefit 5 vote(s) 25.0%
The game will be called almost the same, Pistons slightly benefit 8 vote(s) 40.0%
The case will be forgotten soon. The NBA still has suspect reffing, Pistons don't benefit 7 vote(s) 35.0%

That's exactly what I'm thinking. The nail was hit squarely on the head. Make a call based on the rules and not based on who is involved in the infraction.

I was glad they found out about this scandal in the NBA. It did not surprise me at all that something like this was happening. I think most people on this board were not surprised. The game seemed rigged throughout the season. If another ref is involved in a scandal I would not be surprised at that either, I am kind of expecting it.

Instead, now they will just call the announcer up to the Commish's offic e and inform him of his wrong doing.:gun1:

They are in the unpublished "Stern's Referee's guide to rulebook interpretation".

The American way is to advertise. Now Stern has 4 he can sell. Bron, Wade and Shaq. Don't forget Darko.

Didn't the San Antonio Spurs just win the NBA title? They didn't have any superstars getting favorable calls. They just had the best team. Sometimes, it is just that simple, folks.

It is starting to quite down a bit. Right now the NBA is not on the forefront as most are watching baseball and getting ready for football season. So all we get to read now are articles telling us how great the others refs are from specialized NBA columnists who know where their checks come from, - i.e. if people stop watching then they will stop reading as well.

Once basketball season rolls around and more start writing about it this will get picked up again.

Maybe because none of the new stars are as good or vested as Jordan?

NBA is trying to promote stars and Spurs just mess up all of that with their team play.
