I know there is no comparison between the 05/06 season and this one, however, there is a chance the Pistons could get off to a great start as they did a couple of years ago. We know what happened - best record in the league, only to be scorched in the ECF by Shaq and Wade. With a new focus this year would you like to see the team destroy everyone in it`s path? Or, lose a few here and there but not get complacent?
I would probably look really hard at the playing times. As long as starters don't go over the 30-32 min/game (except maybe Rip who could go as high as 35) and the likes of Hot Rod and Amir get sufficient playing time, I wouldn't mind setting a win record. I think we're talking here about getting ready for the playoffs and that requires the youngsters to get enough playing time to gather experience and learn the tendencies and play of other players on the team. If that happens, I just don't see any records on the horizon.
Well, considering that they're going against the teams that are about 6-30 combined, I am not sure how much we could learn. The only thing I would say we'll learn is how well can Pistons deal with young athletic teams.
One advantage of being a fan rather than a member of the Pistons organization is that you can publicly talk about wins for the whole season and not have to be publicly PC by talking only about the last game and current upcoming game. Having said that. Right now I just want to see how well Hot Rod is going to do running the second unit and if his play is good enough to cut way into Murray's minutes. If that happens it will be good 1st half of the season as long as no one else gets injured bad enough to cause them to miss more than a game or two.
This is how I'd love to see guard rotation play out: Rip - 31 min CB - 30 min Hot Rod - 25 min Afflalo - 10 min
