Souray is a specialist. I wish I could remember the guy's name, he played for LA (St. Louis?) and then later Calgary. Same deal. Points guy, but not a 25 MPG defenseman. The most important thing about Rafalski is that he comes from a culture of winning, he's a vet and he will fit right into the Detroit locker room. I'm happy to see Bertuzzi go. Same with Lang. I did like Schneider, but as long as we have Lidstrom making too much, we won't have money to spend on the blueline.
Souray is a great Fantasy Player. I had him on my team last season and he was solid in every category except +/-. But in the real world of hockey, +/- is the most important stat for a D-man, IMO. In the right system, with a solid stay-at-home defensive defenseman as his partner, Souray could help. You're right about Rafalski, he came from a very professional, winning franchise in NJ.
Maybe now Bertuzzi can afford pay some hospital bills for that guy whos neck he broke. Spearing his limp body into the ice.
Hey Thee, quit your belly aching and sign up your Fantasy Football team already! You're the last one to join! If you didn't get my PM with the details, let me know and I can re-send it.
The Detroit Red Wings announced Thursday that the club has re-signed forward Jiri Hudler to a two-year contract. In keeping with club policy, additional terms of the deal are not available. In his first full season in 2006-07, Hudler appeared in 76 games and led all Detroit rookies in goals (15), assists (10) and points (25). link: TSN : NHL - Canada's Sports Leader=
Dominik Hasek and the Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms of a one-year contract Thursday that is worth more than $2 million in base salary and gives the 42-year-old goalie a chance to earn an additional $2 million in bonuses. "It's a lot less than he should be making," Hasek's agent Ritch Winter said. "It's one of the few deals that I do in which the player, the club and the agent agree the player is worth $5 (million) or $6 million and we talk it down from there. "Dom didn't want more. He's taking one for the team. It's not one of my fun deals, but Dom is happy and that's important." link: Red Wings Re-Sign Goalie Dominik Hasek - washingtonpost.com
Pistons and Chauncey Billups need to do this. Start at 12 million and go down from there.............Congrats to the Wings and Dom for coming to an agreement. He's played well for a long time...............
Dom wants to win. He knows if he gets 5-6 mil Wings won't be able to get anyone else to help the cause.
The NHL is one league where players have been known to take less money to play on a contender, or stay loyal with a franchise. Paul Kariya did it when he signed with the Avalanche a few years back. We're very lucky that Detroit is one of the top franchises that attracts free agents. Everyone knows we will be a playoff team, and the locker room doesn't have a lot of drama going on. I love my Wings.
Not if we meet in the playoffs again. He seemed civil last playoffs. But if he goes psycho again...I hope it gets ugly on his face.
That's what I love about Hasek. He's trying to make sure that while he's not left out the team can go and get more help. Remember, a few years back when he got injured he refused to take money from the Wings for the remainder of his contract since he couldn't play.
With the firesale in Nashville we have no opponent in our division and should take 1st which will guarantee at least the 3rd seed for the playoffs.
"I love my Wings." Mild or Hot Barbie or Honey Must. - "a few years back when he got injured he refused to take money from the Wings for the remainder of his contract since he couldn't play." That didn't go forgotten. Huge key move.
I have to admit I haven't seen this coming: Wings sign Dallas Drake - Red Wings Snapshots - MLive.com
