This place is the stronghold of homerism. Every single voter may have overestimated the 12/13 Pistons. Guys like Slippy and BDL who thought this team actually had the capacity to pull of a win need to come back to reality. Planet Earth calling BDL and Slippy, please return to the real world.
Whenever I go against my instincts and worry about being perceived as a hater I end up looking like a fool.
If the Pistons lose the next 2 games, this poll will end up being a hilarious thread in my opinion....a prediction poll in which there was no correct option.
I voted the way I did because I am an optimist. I would make that same prediction today. I see no value in being a cynical fan.
They are obviously better than their record. This schedule has been beyond brutal. If they can learn to play some defense, get a little chemistry going, and get some home cooking, they could start chalking up a few wins.
I usually occupy the bottom 10 percent in projected wins totals. I do this cause I try not to be a homer....and Bill expects me to.
I'm a homer and i know it! The MOST demoralizing thing is not the losses but how we predictably self destruct for an entire quarter. I'm good with Maggette getting stuckey's minutes if it shakes things up.
I think Maggette pretty much is Stuckey, just bigger and stronger and better at the hoop. Although he completely mails it in on defense. I want him to take Tay's minutes. 100% agree with this. Starting on the road is difficult, and they have shown flashes of brilliance.
Their " flashes of brilliance" have been few and far between especially when the coach refuses to play working rotations. He sends out a group that cant shoot with a group that cant rebound then a group that wont play defense. He needs to cut Tays minutes and pull max from the starting position and give English Stucks starting position let max and stuck come off the bench
Keith Langlois? ...Is that you? For what it's worth, I'm sticking with my assertion that the W/L record is meaningless this year. Wins and losses will impact our draft position NOT our "playoff" position. I'm not saying that we should try to lose, I'm saying that it shouldn't be the primary concern for this season. The primary concern should be to finish the year in a much better postion to contend in the near future. Rotations, strategy and practice should all revolve around this purpose. Every one of these guys that we've been stockpiling in the draft over the last 3 seasons needs to finish the year in a significantly better position to contribute to a winning roster. Each and every one of these guys needs to get a ton of coaching and experience out of this season. I could care less whether we win 4 games or 40 games. We're gonna be in the lottery irregardless. It doesn't bother me in the least that we haven't won one single game yet. The Pistons aren't that good and have had a tough schedule. What bothers me is the fact that Frank's lineups and rotations have featured OLD ideas that don't work and aren't putting the franchise in a better position to win. Starting Jason Maxiell and Tayshaun Prince aren't going to help us win a 2016 NBA championship. Rodney Stuckey isn't good enough to be allowed to "start his way out" of the abysmal slump that he's in. Monroe and Drummond need to start & play together. Stuckey needs to be benched in favor of Ken English. Singler, Middleton and Jerebko need to be having a battle royal for the starting SF position. The Russian Guy needs to be the first big man off of the bench. Brandon Knight needs a coach in his ear micromanaging his every step toward becomming a top tier NBA PG. Our GM needs to be figuring out a way to get as much as he can for Tayshaun Prince in a trade. Charlie Villanueava needs to be paid to sit at home, away from the team. Austin Daye needs to be traded for any positive asset that we can get. Time to stop hanging on to the past while neglecting the future.
Thank you for typing what I was thinking,,,, now get outta my head...theres barely enough room for me and my other 15 personalities
While watching Mike and Mike in the Morning...today, one of the Mikes said that the 2-4 Magic were probably the worst team in the league. When do we play them?
Agree and agree. It just seems to be the norm to fire the coach though and I wouldn't be surprised if it went down that way. For all my complaints about Frank, for some reason I think he is a good coach and I think once he gets some better play from Stuckey and more experience in the rookies he will have more to work with. I agree with all of these, especially about Kravtsov and per BK; a backup veteran PG would be great too (think I have repeated myself a dozen times on this now though).
No way Gores agrees to fire a brand name coach this early... especially if he pushed for him. He'll trash the guy he inherited first.
Good post, BDL. I'm not sure how a supposedly smart guy like Frank can keep going back to the same old things that have proven time and again to not work. At some point JD needs to force his hand and trade away some of his security blankets (Tay, Max, Bynum, maybe JJ) to force this team to move forward.
