In a millisecond. ESPN chat today pointed out that Al Jefferson had a two year injury and that he'd be a lot better this season. When he's right, he's one of the best centers in the game.
I swear to kingdom come if Joe turned down a Prince for Jefferson deal !!!!!!!!! I will start a petition to replace Joe with LEE!
I wouldn't do Prince for Jefferson Straight up, they would have to give me something else/take wilcox or max. I know it is crazy, but I feel like with Tayshaun's track record, and with his expiring we have to do something else. With all the money that Jefferson is owed for 2012, we might not have the space to resign Stuckey or sign a replacement point guard.
The same chat reported that Joe turned down a Tay for Kaman swap last year and called Rip "un-tradeable".
Huh? Look, Jefferson is a 25 year old 6'10" PF that gets you 17/9 coming off a serious injury, 23/12 when healthy. What more do you think we can possibly get for our "Glue" guy?
pwah. rumors. for GMs there is no point to make trades NOW: every GM hopes that he can "exploit" the draft night fervor. and some trades will happen after the draft anyway.
True, and it's probably just a false rumor or a half truth. They probably left out that Minn wanted Tay AND JJ/Daye & Stuckey. But what if it is true, that would mean Joe has turned down Boozer and Jefferson offers for Tay. This is Tayshaun Prince, not Carmelo Anthony.......
Draft Express reporting Minnesota is offering us Al Jefferson, picks 16 and 23 for Prince, Wilcox and pick 7. Interesting.
Note, that was picks 16 and 23, not pick 4.... Who could we get with 16 and 23? I have been largely ignoring guys not projected to go top 10. Hayward, Sanders, Patterson? I think maybe its too much. If it was Prince, Wilcox and 7th for Jefferson and 4th that'd be a no-brainer.
Al Jefferson seems like a character guy, whats waiting for us at 16 and 23? Sanders and Aldrich? They did just get done working out a bunch of bigs from all through the first round on monday, maybe this trade was the plan all along?
Much more true than not. Realism will set in after the draft and the links from just one major domino (with at least four and counting) falling will favor those who don't panic.
Dude Al Jeff is a 20/10 player who's still young, parlaying this pick and Tay into Al Jeff is about as optimal an outcome as one could hope for. I'd love to get Cousins in a Pistons uniform but getting Al Jeff who IS a 20/10 player is just as good as getting a guy 1" taller who we hope BECOMES a 20/10 guy.
Moreover, we get TWO shots at high upside guys that can bolster the front court corp., or we could package it and trade up. The only downside to this is that after this season there won't be much money to sign Stuckey and Jerebko, especially if we don't know what the owner situation is. If we can turn around one of these first rounders and package it with JMax or something, we might be on to something.
Yeah, I know, one in the hand is worth two in the bush and all that... He's a very good player, but I admit the injury history does scare me somewhat. He's missed the equivalent of a season's worth of games (82) in his first 6 seasons with a couple of serious knee and ankle injuries. The guy can play, but he's also got those numbers on a bad team. His contract is quite reasonable (3 years @ 42m) and I'd much prefer him over Boozer. I just don't know if the guy is built for long playoff runs.
