From the Free Press (Bottom of the article): Woolley released: The Carolina Hurricanes released defenseman Jason Woolley. The former Red Wing, who became an unrestricted free agent after last season, participated in training camp on a free-agent tryout. The defending Stanley Cup champions need help on the blue line after losing Aaron Ward, another ex-Wing, to free agency and Frantisek Kaberle for much of the season as he comes back from shoulder surgery. The Hurricanes -- 0-4 in the preseason -- close their exhibition schedule today against Washington. This guy had been over-rated in the last few years, and is getting older and slower. Sounds like someone the Wings will pick up for insurance.
